Ինչպես կյանքում ցանկացած բան, երկարատև և մտերիմ հարաբերությունները նույնպես շատ աշխատանք և անընդհատ ջանքեր են պահանջում երկու կողմերից: Սակայն, իրականում, ամեն ինչ այդքան էլ բարդ չէ, ինչպես թվում է առաջին հայացքից:
Գիտնականները պարզել են, որ կան երկու կարևոր հատկություններ, որ սահմանում են երջանիկ հարաբերությունները: Սրանք հենց այն հարաբերություններն են, որոնք մենք պետք է ձեռք բերենք մեր անձնական կյանքում՝ բարությունն ու մեծահոգությունը:
Տասնամյակների ընթացքում հազարավոր զույգերի ուսումնասիրելով՝ հոգեբաններ Ջոն և Ջուլի Գոթմանները պարզել են, որ բարությունը «զույգերին սոսնձում է միմյանց»: Էմոցիոնալ կայունությունից զատ՝ այս հատկությունը հաջողակ ամուսնության ամենակարևոր գործոնն է: Բարություն ցուցաբերելու ամենադժվար պահը, իհարկե, զուգընյերոջ հետ վիճաբանելու ժամանակն է: Սակայն այդ պահին բարի լինելը ամենակարևորն է: Ձեր զայրույթը և ագրեսիան դուրս թափելը միայն ավելի կվնասի ձեր հարաբերությունները:
«Բարություն չի նշանակում զայրույթ ցույց չտալ: Այն ուղղակի մեզ տեղեկացնում է, թե ինչպես արտահայտենք մեր զայրույթը: Դուք կարող եք անվերջ գոռգռալ ձեր զուգընկերոջ վրա, կամ կարող եք ուղղակի բացատրել, թե ինչու եք վիրավորվել և զայրացել. հենց դա է բարությամբ պատասխանելը,» - ասում է Ջուլի Գոթմանը:
