«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

«Կյանքի ջուր». այդպես է լատիներենից թարգմանվում «Ակվավիտ» թունդ ալկոհոլային խմիչքի անվանումը։ Դժվար է ասել՝ որքանով է նպատակահարմար նման անունը որևէ ալկոհոլային խմիչքի համար, սական փաստը մնում է փաստ, որ հնում այդ անունը տրվում էր գինիներից թորման միջոցով ստացված բոլոր տեսակի ալկոհոլային ըմպելիքներին։ Եվ նույնիսկ առաջին կոնյակներն են այդպես անվանվել։ Բայց... ժամանակն անցնում է, իսկ անունները, բնականաբար, փոխվում են։

Այժմ միայն սկանդինավյան որոշ օղիներ են օրինական հիմքերով կրում իրենց «նախնյաց» անվանումը՝ «Ակվավիտ»։ Նման խմիչքների համար ներկայում հայտնի բաղադրատոմսերից ամենահինը համարվում է դանիականը, որը թվագրվում է 1840 թվականով։ Եվ դա՝ չնայած նրան, որ նորվեգական «Ակվավիտի» գոյության արմատները հասնում են մինչև 1531 թվականը։ Եվ դա բնական է. հաշվի առնելով սառը կլիմայական պայմանները՝ տարօրինակ կլիներ, եթե սկանդինավյան համայնքներում չծնվեին նման թունդ ալկոհոլային խմիչքները (38-50 տոկոս թնդությամբ)։

Սկանդինավիայում սկզբում «Ակվավիտը» պատրաստվում էր կարտոֆիլի սպիրտի հիման վրա, բայց ժամանակի ընթացքում հայտնվել են հացահատիկներից ստացվող սպիրտով բաղադրատոմսեր։ Սպիրտի թորման ժամանակ ավելացվում են տարբեր համեմունքներ՝ չաման, համեմ, բուրավետ պղպեղ, անիսոն, սամիթ և շատ ուրիշ բաներ։ Արդյունքում ստացված թորվածքը, կրկին համեմունքների ավելացմամբ, հնեցվում է կաղնե տակառներում։ Հնեցման ժամանակը երկու շաբաթից մինչև տասներկու տարի է: Խմիչքի գույնը մեղմ կրեմայինից մինչև մուգ շագանակագույն է, և դա ընդգծում է տվյալ խմիչքի տարիքը: Որքան մուգ է «Ակվավիտը», այնքան երկար է այն հնեցվել: Շատ արտադրողներ չեն ճանաչում այդ խմիչքը՝ որպես իրենց ապրանքանիշին արժանի, եթե դրա տակառները երկու անգամ չեն շրջագայել աշխարհով մեկ: Կարծիք կա, որ հենց ծովային ալիքներն ու ջերմաստիճանի փոփոխություններն են էական դեր խաղում այդ խմիչքի ծննդյան գործում:

Ի դեպ, ակվավիտների որոշ տեսակներ ներառում են մանրացված սաթ: Ընդհանրապես, այս խմիչքների բաղադրությունը կարող է էապես տարբեր լինել, սակայն կա մի համեմունք, որը պարտադիր կերպով է մասնակցում «Ակվավիտի» պատրաստմանը. դա չամանի սերմն է:

Այդ խմիչքը սովորաբար խմում են փոքր բաժակներով: Սովորաբար այն չի սառեցվում, այլ օգտագործվում է սենյակային ջերմաստիճանի վիճակում: Չնայած այն իր կազմով ապերիտիվ է, բայց խորհուրդ է տրվում խմել ուտելուց հետո (դա օգնում է մարսողությանը): Եվ հիմա, հաշվի առնելով այդ խմիչքի ծովային երկար ճանապարհորդությունների հակումը, հեշտ է ենթադրել, որ «Ակվավիտի» բնօրինակ տարբերակներից մեկով են ժամանակին վիկինգները նշել Ամերիկայի հայտնագործումը:
