Այսօր Արայիկ Խանդոյանի ծննդյան օրն է. նա կդառնար 54 տարեկան

1971 թվականին այս օրը՝ ապրիլի 19-ին ծնվել է ազատամարտիկ, հայ ազգի նվիրյալ Արայիկ Խանդոյանը կամ, ինչպես ավելի հայտնի է «Միայնակ գայլը»։
Արայիկ Խանդոյանը հանդես էր գալիս նաև որպես հասարակական-քաղաքական գործիչ, ՀՀ զինված ուժերի պահեստազորի մայոր, «Սասնա ծռեր» խմբավորման անդամ։
Մահացել է 2018 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 9-ին Գյումրիում` սրտի կաթվածից։
Արայիկ Խանդոյանի ռազմական կարիերան սկսվել է 1988 թվականին, երբ նա, լինելով դեռ 17 տարեկան, Ծաղկահովիտ գյուղի մոտակա խորհրդային ռազմաբազայից զենք և զինամթերք էր հայթայթում՝ հայկական կամավորական ջոկատներին տրամադրելու նպատակով։
1989 թվականին զորակոչվել է ԽՍՀՄ զինված ուժեր, սակայն 1990 թվականին արձակուրդից չի վերադարձել ծառայության վայր։
Խորհրդային բանակից դասալքության պատճառը Արցախյան պատերազմի սրացումն էր։ Նույն թվականին Արայիկ Խանդոյանը մեկնել է Արցախ ու միացել կամավորական-ինքնապաշտպանական շարժմանը, որտեղ էլ ձեռք է բերել «Միայնակ գայլ» մականունը։ Արցախյան պատերազմին մասնակցել են նաև նրա եղբայրներից երեքը՝ Արարատը, Արթուրն ու Հունանը։ Արմեն Խանդոյանը չի կարողացել մասնակցել պատերազմին՝ առողջական խնդիրների պատճառով։
Հունան Խանդոյանը զոհվել է պատերազմի ժամանակ։
1994 թ. հրադադարից հետո Արայիկ Խանդոյանն ու իր եղբայրներ Արարատն ու Արթուրը շարունակել են ծառայությունը ՀՀ զինված ուժերում։
