«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է

Հին խորհրդային «Երկու Մաքսիմ» երգում կա երկու հերոս` գնդացրորդ Մաքսիմը և նրա հավատարիմ անվանակից ծանր գնդացիր «Մաքսիմը»: Ոչ բոլորը գիտեն, որ, ի տարբերություն տղամարդու անվան, «Մա՛քսիմ» գնդացրի անվանման մեջ շեշտն ընկնում է առաջին վանկի վրա, և միայն Ռուսաստանում է, որ մարդու անունն ու գնդացրի մակնիշը նույնական են հնչում: «Մաքսիմ» գնդացիրը (անունն ստացել է գյուտարար Հայրամ Սթիվենս Մաքսիմի անունով) ստեղծվել է ԱՄՆ– ում 1883 թվականին, բայց երկրի ռազմական գերատեսչությունը մերժել է առաջարկվող զենքը՝ համարելով, որ այն չափազանց անօգուտ է, քանի որ փամփուշտների մեծ սպառում ունի: Համոզված լինելով իր նախագծած գնդացրի խոստումնալից լինելու մեջ՝ Մաքսիմն արտագաղթել է Անգլիա, որտեղ էլ անմիջապես գնահատել են նրա գնդացիրը:

Արտադրության կազմակերպման համար Հայրամ Մաքսիմն այնտեղ քաղաքացիություն է ստացել, իսկ ապա անգամ ասպետի կոչում: Ավտոմատ գնդացրի վերալիցքավորումը հիմնված է կրակոցի հետհարվածի էներգիայի օգտագործման վրա, որի արդյունքում կրակահերթի արագությունը հասցվում է մինչև 600 փամփուշտ/րոպե-ի: Հետաքրքիր է, որ սկզբում «Մաքսիմ» հաստոցային գնդացրի հենց այդ հատկանիշն էր վախեցնում զինվորականներին, մասնավորապես ռուս գեներալ Մ. Ի. Դրագոմիրովին, որի կարծիքով, «պետք չէ մարդու վրա անընդհատ կրակել, քանի որ բավական է նույնիսկ մեկ փամփուշտը»: Չնայած դրան, 1899 թվականին գնդացիրների մի փոքրիկ փորձնական խմբաքանակ է առաքվել Ռուսաստան: Այդ զենքի մարտական օգտագործման առաջին իսկ փորձը փարատել է բոլոր հոռետեսների կասկածները:

Գյուտարարը կարողացել է հասնել նաև գնդացրի ծայրահեղ կենսունակության, ուստի անգամ 15 հազար կրակոցից հետո գնդացրի մեխանիզմների հապաղում կամ խափանում չի ունեցել: «Մաքսիմ» հաստոցային գնդացրի բացառիկ հուսալիությունն ու բարձր մարտական որակները հանգեցրել են դրա երկարատև կիրառմանը տարբեր երկրների զինված ուժերում: Օրինակ՝ ռուսական, իսկ հետագայում խորհրդային բանակում «Մաքսիմի» տարբեր մոդիֆիկացիաներ արտադրվել են մինչև 1945 թվականը: Դրանից հետո այդ զենքերը երկար ժամանակ պահվել են պահեստներում և սառը պատերազմի տարիներին մատակարարվել ԽՍՀՄ դաշնակիցներին:

Հայտնի է դրանց օգտագործման մասին անգամ Հյուսիսային և Հարավային Կորեաների պատերազմներում, ինչպես նաև Հնդկաչինում: Գոյություն ունեն ապացույցներ, որ ԽՍՀՄ-ի և Չինաստանի միջև սահմանային հակամարտությունների սրման ընթացքում «Մաքսիմ» գնդացիրներ են առաքվել խորհրդա-չինական սահմանի երկայնքով գտնվող ամրացված տարածքների պահեստներ: Հնարավոր է, որ նույնիսկ հիմա այդ լեգենդար զենքի առանձին օրինակները շարունակում են ծառայել ինչ-որ տեղ հեռավոր «թեժ կետերում»:
