Հայ աստղագիտությունն անդառնալի կորուստ կրեց 

2018թ. փետրվարի 4-ին 90 տարեկան հասակում կյանքից հեռացավ ճանաչված աստղաֆիզիկոս, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը։

ՀՀ ԳԱԱ Տեղեկատվական-վերլուծական ծառայությունից, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս  Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանի հոգեհանգստի արարողությունը տեղի կունենա փետրվարի 8-ին`ժամը 18.00-ին, «Մատուռ» սգո սրահում (հասցե` Ֆուչիկի 27/34), հուղարկավորման արարողությունը` փետրվարի  9-ին` ժամը 13.00-ին, նույն հասցեից:

Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը հայտնաբերել է Սեյֆերտի տիպի նոր գալակտիկաները և դասակարգել դրանք։ Նա հայտնի է Մարգարյանի գալակտիկաների առաջին սպեկտրային դիտումներով:

Ակադեմիկոս Խաչիկյանն այն եզակի աստղագետներից էր, ով հնարավորություն է ունեցել իր ուսումնասիրություններն իրականացնել ԱՄՆ-ի (Պալոմար, Քիթ Փիք, Լիք, Մաքդոնալդ), Ռուսաստանի (Հատուկ աստղադիտարան) և Գերմանիայի (Տաուտենբուրգ) ամենամեծ աստղադիտակներով։ Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանի աշխատանքները վերաբերում են գազափոշային և գիսավորաձև միգամածություններին, միգամածությունների ճառագայթման բևեռացմանը, աստղասփյուռներին և գերաստղասփյուռներին, արտագալակտիկական աստղագիտությանը, ակտիվ գալակտիկաներին, Սեյֆերտի և Մարգարյանի գալակտիկաներին։ Նա տպագրել է 160-ից ավելի գիտական հոդված և ակնարկ։

Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը մեծ ներդրում ունի երիտասարդ կադրերի պատրաստման գործում: Երկար տարիներ դասավանդել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանում: Նրա ղեկավարությամբ ութ հոգի պաշտպանել է ֆիզիկամաթեմատիկական գիտությունների թեկնածուական ատենախոսություն, մեկը` դոկտորական:

Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը ծնվել է 1928թ-ի դեկտեմբերի 16-ին` Երևանում։ 1951թ-ին ավարտել է ԵՊՀ աստղաֆիզիկայի բաժինը։ 1952-1955թթ-ին սովորել է Լենինգրադի պետական համալսարանի ասպիրանտուրայում։ 1996թ-ին ընտրվել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս։

Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը 1955թ-ից աշխատել է Բյուրականի աստղադիտարանում:   1960-1969թթ. եղել է Բյուրականի աստղադիտարանի գիտական քարտուղարը, 1970թ-ից՝ սպեկտրադիտության լաբորատորիայի վարիչ, 1980-1985թթ.՝ ԵՊՀ ֆիզիկայի ֆակուլտետի դեկանը։ Խաչիկյանը Բյուրականի աստղադիտարանի տնօրենն էր 1988-1993թթ-ին և  1999-2003թթ-ին։ 1991-1994թթ-ին նախագահել է Միջազգային աստղագիտական միության թիվ 28 «Գալակտիկաներ» հանձնաժողովը։ Եղել է «Բյուրականի աստղադիտարանի հաղորդումների» գլխավոր խմբագիր, «Աստղաֆիզիկա» հանդեսի գլխավոր խմբագրի տեղակալ: Կյանքի վերջին տարիներին Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանը Վիկտոր համբարձումյանի անվան Բյուրականի աստղաֆիզիկական աստղադիտարանի գլխավոր գիտաշխատողն էր և գիտական խորհրդատուն:

Պարգևատրվել է «Պատվո նշան» շքանշանով, Ամերիկայի հայ ճարտարագետների և գիտնականների ընկերության, կառավարական մեդալներով, ՀԽՍՀ ԳԽ պատվոգրով։

ՀՀ ԳԱԱ նախագահությունը և Past. am լրատվականի ողջ անձնակազմը ցավակցում է Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանի հարազատներին, մտերիմներին, գործընկերներին: Էդուարդ Խաչիկյանի հիշատակը միշտ վառ կմնա  գիտության պատմության մեջ:
