ԱԺ-ում ընթացող քննարկումների ընթացքում հանրապետականները ջանք ու եռանդ չեն խնայում փաստելու, որ Հայաստանը Ռուսաստանից չի վախենում, և հարաբերությունները գործընկերային են: Իրականում իշխանության հիմնավորումները, որ ԵԱՏՄ մտնելով, մենք ԵՄ-ի հետ հարաբերությունները չենք վատթարացրել կամ, որ Ռուսաստանի հետ հարաբերությունները, անկախ վերջինիս կողմից Ադրբեջանին զենք վաճառելու հանգամանքից, հույժ կարևոր են մեր համար, ընդամենը փորձեր են փրկելու սեփական դեմքը: Եվ այդ հուսահատ փորձերը վախի արդյունք են: Վախ ՝ Եվրոպայից, որ վերջինս կարող է վերջնականապես հիասթափվել Հայաստանից: Վախ հասարակությունից ՝ հասկանալով, որ անվստահությանը կարող է ավելանալ նաև սեփական իշխանության անզորության գիտակցումը: Վախ ռուսներից ՝ զգուշանալով, որ հաաստանյան հասարակության արձագանքը կարող է ջղայնացնել ռուսական կողմին:

Եվ այս իմաստով, հանրապաետականների ասածը պետք է հասկանալ հակառակ կողմից ՝ վախը քաղաքական կատեգորիա է, առավել ևս մեր նման երկրի ու մեր երկրի իշխանության պարագայում: Սերժ Սարգսյանն էլ է ասել, որ չեն վախենում միայն հիմարները: Բայց այստեղ խոսքը ոչ թե բնական, մարդուն հարիր վախի զգացողության մասին է, չափը ճանաչելու, զգույշ լինելու, այլ վախի ՝ ի սկզբանե որպես հարաբերությունների հիմքի:

Իսկ ինչպես շփվել Ռուսաստանի հետ, առանց վախ: Մոռանանք Հայաստանը: Ռուսաստանը նույնիսկ ԱՄՆ, Եվրոպա հետ իր հարաբերություններն է կառուցում վախեցնելու, վնաս տալու հիման վրա: Կարևոր չէ, այդ վախի չափաբաժնի տակ իրականում ինչ իրական ներուժ կա: Կարևորն այն է, որ ուրիշ մեթոդ բացի վախեցնելը, ռուսական քաղաքականությունը չունի և չի ունեցել երկար ժամանակ:

Այնպես, որ կամ պետք է չխոսել այդ վախերից, ու առանց այդ էլ ցավոտ թեման շահարկելով ու լղոզելով ավելի խոցելի չդառնալ: Կամ էլ պիտի հստակ և ուղիղ ասվի, թե կոնկրետ ինչից է վախենում իշխանությունը, որ որևէ կերպ չի կարողանում հակառակվել ռուսական կողմին: Ո՞րն է վախի այդ ձևակերպումը ՝ միայնության զգացումը, դարավոր եղբայրության ոչնչացման վտանգը, ֆիզիկական ոչնչացման սպառնալիքը, թե ուրիշ բան: Այս ամենի մասին կարելի է խոսել հանրության հետ, նաև վստահ լինելով, որ հանրությունը կհասկանա այդ վախերը: Թուլության ցուցադրում դրա մեջ չկա, քանի որ բոլորն ամեն ինչ գիտեն: Բայց խոստովանությունը կարող է ընկալվել որպես ուժ:
