Այսօր` օգոստոսի 21-ին, կյանքից հեռացավ ականավոր գրող, հրապարակախոս, թարգմանիչ Պերճ Զեյթունցյանը: Հուլիսի 18-ին նա դարձավ 79 տարեկան:
Պերճ Զեյթունցյանը ծնվել է Ալեքսանդրիայում, Եգիպտոս, 1938 թ.։ 1948 թվականին հայրենադարձել է։ Ավարտել է Երևանի Ղազարոս Աղայանի անվան միջնակարգ դպրոցը: 1963 թվականին ավարտել է Պյատիգորսկի օտար լեզուների ինստիտուտը։ 1963-1964 թվականներին սովորել է Մոսկվայի բարձրագույն սցենարական դասընթացներում։ 1965-1968 թվականներին եղել է «Հայֆիլմ»կինոստուդիայի խմբագիրը, 1965-1975 թվականներին` հեռուստաֆիլմերի «Երևան» ստուդիայի գլխավոր խմբագիրը, 1975-1986 թվականներին՝ Հայաստանի գրողների միության քարտուղարը։ 1991-1992 թվականներին եղել է ՀՀ մշակույթի առաջին նախարարը:
Առաջին գիրքը տպագրվել է 1956 թվականին։ Հեղինակ է 12 պիեսների, որոնք բեմադրվել են Երևանի թատրոններում։ Գրքերը թարգմանվել են 11 լեզուներով, այդ թվում՝ ռուսերեն, անգլերեն, ֆրանսերեն, արաբերեն:
Զեյթունցյանը պետական մրցանակի կրկնակի դափնեկիր է, մշակույթի վաստակավոր գործիչ, Հռոմի արվեստների և հասարակական գիտությունների «Տիբերինա» ակադեմիայի պատվավոր անդամ:
2007 թվականին Պերճ Զեյթունցյանին հանձնվել է Հայաստանյայց Առաքելական Սուրբ եկեղեցու «Սուրբ Սահակ-Սուրբ Մեսրոպ» պատվո բարձր շքանշան։ Դրանից մի քանի տարի առաջ էլ արժանացել է «Հայ արվեստի ասպետ», ինչպես նաև «Երևանի պատվավոր քաղաքացի» կոչումներին։ 2013 թ. ՀՀ Վարչապետի որոշմամբ պարգևատրվել է ՀՀ վարչապետի հուշամեդալով։ 2016 թվականին ՀՀ Անկախության 25-ամյակի առթիվ, հայ գրականության և մշակույթի զարգացման գործում ներդրած մեծ ավանդի համար պարգևատրվել է Պատվո շքանշանով: Նրա գործերից են «Մեր թաղի ձայները», «Մեզնից հետո», «Փարիզի համար», «Ամենատխուր մարդը», «Վերջին արևագալը», «Ոտքի, դատարանն է գալիս», «Հիսուս Նազովրեցին և իր երկրորդ աշակերտը: Խոր Վիրապ»…
Նրա կատարած թարգմանություններից են Էրսքին Քոլդուելի «Տաք գետը», Գրեհեմ Գրենի «Խաղաղ ամերիկացին», Էռնեստ Հեմինգուեյի «Կիլիմանջարոյի ձյուները» և «Հրաժեշտ զենքին» ստեղծագործությունները:
