Պարզվում է, որ դանդաղ ուտելու հասարակ սովորությունը կարող է օգնել ազատվել ավելորդ կիլոգրամներից, ուստի պորհուրդ է տրվում մարդկանց մեջ այս սովորությունը սերմանել դեռ վաղ մանկությունից:
Ըստ գիտնականների` սննդի արագ խժռումը գերհագեցում է առաջացնում և մարդը չի հասկանում, որ կշտացել է եւ ավելի շատ է ուտում, քան օրգանիզմին անհրաժեշտ է: Եվ հակառակը տեղի է ունենում այն դեպքում, երբ մարդը դանդաղ է ուտում. Այս դեպքում նա արագ է հասկանում, որ արդեն կուշտ է, եւ արդյունքում ավելի քիչ է ուտում:
Այս պնդումը հաստատվել է տղամարդկանց մասնակցությամբ կատարված փորձով. կամավորներին հանձնարարվել է օրվա ընթացքում տարբեր ժամերին ուտել 300 գրամ պաղպաղակ: Պարզվել է, որ այն մարդիկ, ովքեր պաղպաղակը կերել են 30 րոպեի ընթացքում հանգիստ, հավասար բաժիններով, օրգանիզմի հորմոնալ պատասխանը նորմայի սահմանում է եղել: Նրանց քաղցի հորմոնի պարունակությունը քիչ է եղել, և հակառակը՝ շատ է եղել կուշտ լինելու հորմոնի պարունակությունը:
Իսկ նրանք, ովքեր միանգամից են կերել, օրգանիզմում առաջացել է «հորմոնալ անկայուն» դաշտ: Այդպիսի տարբերությունը նպաստել է, որ փորձի մասնակիցները գիտակցեն, որ շատ ավելի են կերել կշտանալու համար:
