Ծխելու դեմ պայքարի մեթոդները, որոնք առաջարկում է Առողջապահության նախարար Լևոն Ալթունյանը և նրա՝ ծխողների հասցեին արված արտահայտությունները, տարաբնույթ մեկնաբանությունների արժանացան:
 
Սեքսոլոգ Անդրանիկ Ղարիբյանը Past.am-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց, որ նախարարի առաջարկածն ընդունված տարբերակ է: Ըստ նրա՝ ծխախոտի գինն ամբողջ աշխարհում բավականին բարձր է: Մեր զրուցակիցը կողմ է հանրային վայրերում ծխելու արգելքին: «Ծխողներն այս դեպքում վտանգում են նաև դիմացինի առողջությունը: Թող նրանց համար առանձնացված վայրեր լինեն»,-ասաց Անդրանիկ Ղարիբյանը:
 
Դիտարկմանը, թե արգելքները կարող են հակառակ ազդեցություն ունենալ, բժիշկը պատասխանեց. «Հաշվի առնելով ֆինանսական դժվարությունները՝ չեմ կարծում, թե շատ գումար ծախսեն: Դրա այլընտրանքը կա. գուցե սկսեն թութուն ծխել: Այնուամենայնիվ, ես գտնում եմ, որ այս մեթոդը կարող է լինել արդյունավետ»: Անդրադառնալով սեռական կյանքի վրա ծխախոտի բացասական ազդեցություններին` մասնագետն ընդգծեց, որ այն կարող է տղամարդկանց մոտ հանգեցնել սեռական անկարողության՝ էրեկցիայի խանգարման: «Գլխավորն անոթների բավարար արյունամատակարարումն է դեպի սեռական օրգան: Սակայն ծխախոտը սպազմի է ենթարկում անոթները, դրանք նեղանում են և բավարար արյան հոսք չի մատակարարվում, որի հետևանքով առաջանում է էրեկցիայի խանգարումը»,-ասաց սեքսոլոգը՝ հավելելով, որ այդ խնդիրն ակնհայտ է դառնում 40 տարեկանից հետո:
 
Անդրանիկ Ղարիբյանը հայտնեց, որ, ըստ ամերիկյան սեքսոլոգների հարցումների, օրը նույնիսկ 15 գլանակ ծխող տղամարդկանց 83%-ն ունենում է էրեկցիայի հետ կապված խնդիր: Մասնագետն ավելացրեց, որ հաջորդ խնդիրը կապված է սերմի որակի հետ: «Սիգարետի մեջ պարունակում է 3500 թունավոր նյութ: Դրանցից գլխավորը՝ նիկոտինը, նույնպես ազդում է սերմի վրա»,-շեշտեց բժիշկը:
 
Մասնագետը խոսեց նաև կանանց առողջության վրա ծխելու բացասական ազդեցության մասին՝ ընդգծելով, որ դա կարող է անպտղության պատճառ հանդիսանալ, խանգարել պտղի ներարգանդային զարգացմանը, ինչը մեծացնում է ժառանգական հիվանդությունների և արատների հավանականությունը:
