«Մպեմբայի էֆեկտ». երևույթ, որի պատասխանի վրա գիտնականներն առ այսօր գլուխ են կոտրում և նույնիսկ դրամական պարգև են նախատեսել` այն գտնողի համար

1963 թ.–ին Տանզանիայում Էռնեստո Մպեմբա անունով մի դպրոցական իր ուսուցչին առաջին հայացքից հիմար թվացող հարց տվեց.

–Ինչո՞ւ է սառցարանում տաք պաղպաղակն ավելի շուտ սառչում, քան սառը։ 

Ուսուցիչն ուղղակի ծիծաղեց Էռնեստոյի ասածի վրա և առանձնապես լուրջ չընդունեց հարցը։

Մի քանի տարի անց Մպեմբան նմանատիպ մի հարց տվեց ֆիզիկոս Դենիս Օսբորնին։ Նա նրան առաջարկեց փորձարկում կատարել. սառցարանում 2 միանման տարաներով ջուր դնել։ Մի տարայում ջրի ջերմաստիճանը պետք է լինի 35 աստիճան, մյուսում` 100։ Էռնեստոն ֆիզիկոսին վստահեցնում էր, որ եռացրած ջրով տարան ավելի շուտ կսառչի։

Օսբորնը ստուգեց Մպեմբիի խոսքերը և սեփական փորձով համոզվեց, որ եռացրած ջուրն ավելի արագ է սառչում։ Ավելի ուշ նա այդ թեմայով Էռնեստոյի հետ գիտական հետազոտություն հրապարակեց։ Եռացրած ջրի` անհամեմատ արագ սառեցումը ստացավ «Մպեմբայի էֆեկտ» անվանումը։

Այնուամենայնիվ, ի՞նչն է ստիպում եռացրած ջրին ավելի արագ սառչել։ Գիտնականները մինչ օրս գլուխ են կոտրում այս հանելուկի շուրջ։ Վարկածներից մեկի համաձայն` եռացրած ջրի արագ սառեցումը կատարվում է արագացված գոլորշիացման արդյունքում։ Մեկ այլ վարկածի համեմատ` ջրածնային մոլեկուլների ձգվելու արդյունքն է։ Բայց Մպեմբայի հանելուկին միանշանակ պատասխան առ այսօր չկա։ Անցած տարի գիտնականները նույնիսկ դրամական պարգև էին խոստացել այն մարդուն, ով կլուծեր այդ հանելուկը։
