Գերմանիայում կարող են հեշտացնել մեսենջերներային նամակագրության նկատմամբ իրավապահների վերահսկողությունը։
Մասնավորապես Բունդեսթագի ներքին գործերի հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Անսգար Խեվելինգը (Քրիստոնյա դեմոկրատական միություն՝ ՔԴՄ) պահանջել է հեշտացնել Գերմանիայի իրավապահ մարմինների կողմից մեսենջերների՝ այդ թվում հանրահայտ WhatsApp-ի նամակագրություն մուտք գործելու հնարավորությունը։ Այս մասին նա հայտնել է Saarbrücker Zeitung թերթին տված հարցազրույցում՝ ահաբեկչություն պատրաստելու կասկածանքով Լեյպցիգում մի սիրիացու ձերբակալության համատեքստում։
Խեվելինգը հիշեցրել է, որ պոտենցիալ հանցագործները հաճախ են կապ պահպանում հենց նման ծառայությունների միջոցով, իսկ նամակագրության ուսումնասիրությունը «առաջվա պես կախված է երբեմն չափից խիստ պայմաններից»
Սեպտեմբերի սկզբին գերմանական լրատվամիջոցները հայտնել էին, որ Գեմանիայի դաշնային հետախուզական ծառայությունը ու Սահմանադրության պահպանման դաշնային գերատեսչությունը մտադիր են հաջորդ տարի տասնյակ միլիոն եվրո ուղղել կիբերհարձակումներից ու ահաբեկչությունից պաշտպանության նոր ծրագրերին։ Եվ այսպես գերմանական հատուկ ծառայությունները մտադիր են զգալիորեն ընդլայնել կոդավորված բանակցությունների ու ուղերձների վերծանման իրենց հնարավորությունները։ Ավելի քան 21 մլն եվրո է հատկացվելու Panos անվանումով նախագծին, որի շրջանակում իրականացվելու է մեսենջերների՝ մասնավորապես WhatsApp-ի նկատմամբ վերահսկողություն։
