Իմ կարծիքով՝ Հայաստանից դուրս ծնվածների մոտ ինչ-որ բան պակաս է, հաստատ՝ կիսատ, անկատար, անարմատ, անթև, անմիջավայր, մայրենի հողից կտրված…
Արմավենիները՝ պալմաները, Հայաստանում նույնը չեն. սենյակային, թերաճ, գաճաճ, ուղղակի նման, հիշեցնող իսկական արմավենիներին:
Մեր հայրենակիցներից մեկը տարիներ առաջ ծիրանի կորիզ էր տարել Լոս Անջելես: Տնկել էր իր այգում: Այն աճել, մեծացել էր՝ Հայաստանի պտուղը, հայերիս խորհրդանիշը. Prunus armeniaca-ն, Armeniaca vulgaris-ը կամ Armenian plum-ը:
Այո՛, իզուր չէ, որ համաշխարհային հանրագիտական բառարաններում ծիրանը կոչվում է «ֆրուկտուս արմենիկա»:
Բայց ցավալին և տարօրինակն այն է, որ Լոս Անջելեսում աճած ծիրանի պտուղները բոլորովին նման չէին Հայաստանի մեր խորհրդանշանին: Ո՛չ ձևն էր հայկական, ո՛չ համն ու հոտը, ո՛չ գույնն էր արևային… Այդ պտուղների մեջ ինչ-որ անհարազատ, ոչ հայկական բան կար….Այն հեռու էր հավանաբար իր հող ու ջրից, իր արմատներից, իր Հայրենիքից, իր հայկական միջավայրից, հայկական արևի էներգիայից ու ջերմությունից:
Նույնն արտերկրում ծնված մեր հայրենակիցներն են, հատկապես մի քանի սերունդ հետո…Բացառությունները չհաշված, որոնք շատ քիչ են…Սենյակներում, սրահներում, միջանցքներում, այգիներում աճեցրած արմավենիների նման, որ միայն հեռվից հեռու են հիշեցնում իրենց մերձարևադարձային, բարձր, սլացիկ, վեհաշուք տեսակներին:
Մի՛ լքեք Հայրենիքը, առաջին իսկ հնարավորության դեպքում վերադարձեք…Պետք չէ նմանվեք ծիրանի ծառի այն պտուղներին՝ անհարազատ, հեռու, անհամ, անբույր, անձև, հայրենիքի հետ ու անհայրենիք…
Ամենադժբախտությունը նրանում է, որ երբ հեռանում, կտրվում եք Հայրենիքից, սերունդ տալիս, փոխվում է ձեր ոգին, փոխվում է ձեր հոգու ծիածանի գույները՝ հայկական, հայրենիքի, ձեր հող ու ջրի, ձեր նախնիների, ձեր ապագայի վառ գույները…Այն նմանվում է դրսում աճեցրած ծիրանին՝ հայրենիքից հեռու ու անհայրենիք և ոչ հայկական…
