Տարեսկզբից Միջերկրական ծովով Եվրոպայի երկրներ են ժամանել շուրջ 300 հազար միգրանտներ ու փախստականներ: Ընդ որում՝ ավելի քան 3,2 հազար մարդ զոհվել կամ անհետ կորել Է ճանապարհին: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, սեպտեմբերի 20-ին Ժնեւում հայտնել Է Միգրացիայի միջազգային կազմակերպությունը (ՄՄԿ) :
Տարվա սկզբից մինչեւ սեպտեմբերի 18-ը ծովով Եվրոպա են ժամանել 298 հազար 474 միգրանտներ ու փախստականներ, նշվում Է ՄՄԿ-ի տեղեկագրում: Ընդ որում նրանց մեծ մասին ընդունել Է Հունաստանը (165 հազար 409 մարդ), Իտալիա ժամանածների թիվը հասնում Է 130 հազար 561-ի, 2 հազար 476 միգրանտներ ու փախստականներ հասել են Իսպանիա, 28-ը՝ Կիպրոս:
Ըստ ՄՄԿ-ի գնահատումների, ճանապարհին զոհվածների եւ անհետ կորածների թիվն ընթացիկ տարում հասել Է 3213-ի: Դրա հետ մեկտեղ մահվան ամենից շատ դեպքեր են գրանցվել Հյուսիսային Աֆրիկայից Իտալիա երթուղում Միջերկրական ծովի կենտրոնական մասում՝ 2766 հոգի: Թուրքիայից Հունաստան հասնելու փորձ կատարելիս զոհվել Է 386 մարդ, իսկ Հյուսիսային Աֆրիկայից Իսպանիա ճանապարհին՝ 61 մարդ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
