Ռասիստական կատակներն ուղղված են ինչ-որ մեկի ազգության հաշվին զվարճանալուն: Նշանակություն չունի, թե նա ով է` աֆրոամերիկացի, թե ասիացի: Կարեւորն այն փաստն է, որ այդ հումորը, մեծ հավանականությամբ, ցավ կպատճառի նրան, ով գտնվում է հակառակ կողմում, հայտնում է Planet- today-ը:
Արեւմտյան Կարոլինայի համալսարանի անցկացրած հետազոտությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ նույնիսկ եթե դուք մարդու հասցեին նրա ազգային պատկանելիության վերաբերյալ կատակ անեք, իսկ հետո ավելացնեք, որ լուրջ չընդունի այդ ֆրազը, դրանից իրավիճակը չի բարելավվի: Ոչ մեկին հաճույք չի պատճառում իր մասին այնպիսի կատակներ լսել, որոնք կապված են մաշկի գույնի հետ:
Ռասիստները, որպես կանոն, թաքցնում են իրենց տեսակետը, որովհետեւ վախենում են շրջապատի կողմից քննադատության ենթարկվել: Այն արտահայտելու համար նրանց համապատասխան իրավիճակ է անհրաժեշտ:
Այլ խոսքով ասած, նրանք կարող են հանգիստ կատակել իսպանացու մասին` գտնվելով սպիտակ մարդկանց շրջապատում: Բայց հարցն այն է, որ այդ դեպքում նրանք զգում են պատկանելիությունը որոշակի էթնիկ խմբին եւ գիտեն, որ վախենալու բան չունեն:
Ռասիստական կատակները ոչ մի լավ բան են պարունակում: Որքան էլ ծիծաղելի թվան դրանք մարդուն, նա պետք է նկատի ունենա, որ իր խոսքերով նա հեշտորեն կարող է հոգեբանական ծանր վնաս հասցնել:
