Կարսի Առաքելոց եկեղեցու հազարամյա ոդիսականը... 19-րդ դարավերջի լուսանկարում՝ Կարսի Սուրբ Առաքելոց եկեղեցին է: Այս նկարը ուշագրավ և խորհրդանշական է նրանով, որ հայկական եկեղեցու և ժամատան վրա տեղադրված են ռուսական ուղղափառ խաչեր:
Արդեն մեկ հազարամյակից ավել պատմություն ունեցող և հիմա էլ կանգուն Սուրբ Առաքելոց եկեղեցին կառուցվել է 10-րդ դարի 30-ական թվականներին' Աբաս Բագրատունու օրոք: 1579-ին թուրքերն այն վեր են ածում մզկիթի՝ գմբեթին տեղադրելով կիսալուսին: 1878 թ. Կարսը՝ կեսդարյա անընդմեջ հակամարտությունից հետո Օսմանյան Թուրքիայից անցնում է Ռուսական կայսրության կազմի մեջ, իսկ Սուրբ Առաքելոցը դառնում է արդեն ռուս ուղղափառ եկեղեցի: Միայն 1919-20 թթ., երբ մեծագույն ջանքերի շնորհիվ Կարսը մտնում է նորանկախ Հայաստանի առաջին Հանրապետության կազմի մեջ՝ Կարսի Սուրբ Առաքելոցը վերջապես դառնում է այն, ինչ որ եղել էր ի սկզբանե՝ հայ առաքելական եկեղեցի, և ըստ դրա էլ վերփոխվում են նաև եկեղեցու և ժամատան վրա տեղադրված խաչերի ուրվագծերը:
Սակայն դա, ավաղ, կարճ է տևում: 1921 թվականին Սովետական Ռուսաստանը, ոտնահարելով հայ ժողովրդի կենսական շահերն ու իրավունքները, Կարսն ուղղակի նվիրաբերում է իր նորահայտ ռազմավարական դաշնակցին՝ քեմալական Թուրքիային: Հայկական հնագույն քաղաքում թուրքերի և քրդերի հայտնվելուն պես պատմական շինությունը երկար ժամանակ օգտագործվում էր որպես պահեստ: 1970 թ. այստեղ բացվում է թանգարան, իսկ արդեն 1998-ից' Սուրբ Առաքելոց եկեղեցին կրկին փոխարկվում է և վեր է ածվում մզկիթի։
