Գրեթե բոլորս էլ գիտենք, որ ցուրտ, խոնավ եղանակը կարող է ցավերն ավելի սրացնել: Բժիշկները փորձում են պարզել, թե ինչ կապ կա եղանակի և ցավի միջև, և նրանք կարծում են, որ սա ավելի լուրջ է, քան մենք կարծում ենք:
Բազմաթիվ ուսումնասիրություններ պարզել են, որ վատ եղանակը՝ հատկապես անձրևը և քիչ արևոտ եղանակը կարող են ավելի բարդացնել քրոնիկ հիվանդություները:
Բժիշկները հույս ունեն, որ շուտով այն ինֆորմացիան, որոնք նրանք ստացել են ուսումնասիրության հազարավոր մասնակիցներից, կօգնեն նրանց ստանալ «ցավի տեսությունը» նույն կերպ, ինչպես նրանք ստանում են եղանակի տեսությունը:
Մանչեսթերի համալսարանի ուսումնասիրությանը մասնակցած ավելի քան 9000 մարդիկ, ովքեր քրոնիկ հիվանդություն ունեն, նկատել էին իրենց ցավի մակարդակի և եղանակի փոփոխության միջև կապը:
Փետրվարից ապրիլ ամիսներին, երբ արևային օրերը գերակշռում են, սուր ցավերը թուլանում են:
Սակայն Մանչեսթերի համալսարանի հետազոտողներն ասում են, որ ցավի մակարդակը ավելի է բարձրանում հունիս ամսին, երբ եղանակն ավելի է խովանանում և արևային օրերը պակասում են:
Հետազոտողները հեռախոսային հատուկ ծրագիր են ստեղծել, որը գրառում է, թե ինչպես են փոխվում մարդում ցավի սիմպտոմները:
Ծրագիրը նաև հետևում է եղանակի տեսությանը:
Ռևմատոլոգ և Մանչեսթերի համալսարանի համաճարակաբան պրոֆեսոր Ուիլլ Դիքսոնն ասում է, որ սկզբի արդյունքները բավականին քաջալերող էին, սակայն վերջնականապես այդ կապը ապացուցելու դեպքում մարդիկ ավելի վստահորեն կկարողանան կազմակերպել իրենց պլանները՝ դրանք համապատասխանեցնելով եղանակի հետ:
Պրոֆեսորը նաև նշում է, որ ուսումնասիրությունը ավելի խորը հետազոտության կարիք ունի և արդյունավետ ընթացք տալու համար անհարժեշտ են ավելի շատ մասնակիցներ:
