Երիտասարդ մայրիկ Բրենդա Սանդերսոնը շատ անհանգիստ էր իր որդու առողջության համար: Նա երկար ժամանակ չէր կարողանում հասկանալ երեխայի հիվանդության պատճառը: Իսկ երբ իմացավ ճշմարտությունը՝ նա սարսափեց: Քանի որ նրա փոքրիկ տղան վարակվել էր՝ հայտնի մանկական ատրակցիոնում զվարճանալի…

Մի օր մայրիկը նկատեց, որ իր տղայի մաշկը ծածկված է կարմիր ցանով: Բրենդան մտածեց, որ դա միջատների խայթոցից առաջացած ալերգիա է, և փորձեց փոքրիկին բուժել հատուկ քսուքի օգնությամբ: Սակայն դեղերն ընդհանրապես չօգնեցին: Ավելին, ցանն ավելի տարածվեց, իսկ որոշ հատվածներ էլ սկսեցին թարախակալել:

Վախեցած մայրիկը հենց նույն վայրկյանին երեխային հիվանդանոց տարավ: Պարզվեց, որ փոքրիկը վարակվել էր ստաֆիլակոկ վարակով: Տղային բուժում նշանակեցին, իսկ բժիշկները մայրիկի հետ միասին փորձում էին պարզել, թե որտեղ կարող է տղան վարակված լինել:

Պարզվեց, որ տղայի հիվանդության պատճառը փչովի բատուտներն էին: Տղան շատ էր սիրում զվարճանալ ռետինե ամրոցներում: Եվ մայրիկն էլ մեծ սիրով տանում էր նրան այնտեղ:

«Ես նույնիսկ չէի կարող մտածել, որ հայտնի մանկական զվարճանքը կարող է նման ողբերգական հետևանքներ ունենալ: Ես փչովի բատուտները միշտ բացարձակ անվտանգ եմ համարել», – կիսվում է Բրենդան:

Բժիշկներն ասում են, որ նման ատրակցիոնները մեծ վտանգ են ներկայացնում փոքրիկների համար: Ռետինե բատուտները ապահով են: Սակայն վտանգը նրանում է, որ դրանց սեփականատերերից գրեթե ոչ ոք արժանի ուշադրություն չի դարձնում դրանց մաքրմանն ու ախտահանմանը:

Մանկական զվարճանքներից հետո բատուտը ծածկվում է քրտինքով և փոշիով: Դա հիանալի միջավայր է դառնում մանրէների բազմացման համար: Խաղի ժամանակ երեխաներն ընկնում են և մաշկի վնասված հատվածների միջոցով մանրէները հեշտությամբ ներթափանցում են օրգանիզմ:

Այլ ծնողներին զգուշացնելու համար՝ Բրենդան իր Facebook-ի էջում հրապարակել է որդու լուսանկարները: Նա կոչ է անում ծնողներին, որպեսզի չամաչեն և հարցնեն, թե վերջին անգամ երբ են մաքրել և ախտահանել բատուտը: Ինչպես նաև՝ տանել երեխաներին միայն այն ատրակցիոնները, որոնց ապահովության մեջ վստահ են:
