ԴԱԵՇ-ի նորակոչիկների 70 տոկոսի  շարիաթի իմացության մակարդակը «բազային է», այսինքն` շատ ցածր: Լրատվական գործակալությունը վերլուծել է 2013-ից մինչեւ 2014 թվականը շարժման 4 030 նոր գրոհայինների վերաբերյալ ավելի քան 3 000 փաստաթուղթ: Նյութերը գործակալության ձեռքում են հայտնվել սիրիական ընդդիմադիր     Zaman al-Wasl կայքի շնորհիվ: Անցյալում կայքն արդեն տեղադրել էր նման փաստաթղթեր. այս տարվա մարտին Sky News հեռուստաալիքը հայտնել է, որ իր տրամադրության տակ  ջիհադիստների 22 000 ֆայլով կրիչ կա: Խոսքը հավաքագրման բլանկների մասին է, որոնցով գնահատում են նորաթուխ ջիհադիստների կրոնական գիտելիքները, մասնավորապես` այն ամենի, ինչը վերաբերում է շարիաթի օրենքներին: ԴԱԵՇ-ի տարածք հասնելուն պես, նրանց համար թեստ են անցկացրել եւ նրանց   1-ից 3 գնահատական են դրել: Ամենացածր ցուցիչը «բազային» մակարդակն է, ամենաբարձրը` «առաջացածը», գրում է Le Figaro-ն:

Բոլոր փաստաթղթերն աչքի անցկացնելով` АР-ն վիճակագրություն է կազմել. նորելուկների    70 տոկոսը միայն «բազային» գիտելիքների է տիրապետել, 24 տոկոսը` «միջանկյալ» եւ միայն  5 տոկոսը` «առաջացած»: Հինգ նորակոչիկ աչքի է ընկել նրանով, որ անգիր են իմացել Ղուրանը: Այդ ամենից հետեւում է, որ այդ շրջանում ԴԱԵՇ-ի նորակոչիկների ճնշող մեծամասնությունը թույլ գիտելիքներ է ունեցել շարիաթի վերաբերյալ` այն համակարգի, որը մեկնաբանում է Ղուրանի այաթները եւ հադիսները   (Մուհամմեդ մարգարեին վերագրվող խոսքերի եւ արարքների վերաբերյալ պատմություններ), դրանք օրենքների վերածելով:

Ի հաստատումն այդ թվերի, АР-ն ներկայացնում է նախկին ջիհադիստների հարցաքննությունների արձանագրությունները, որոնց ձերբակալել են Եվրոպա վերադառնալուց հետո:   Դա մասնավորապես վերաբերում է Կարիմ Մուհամմեդ Ագգադին, որը մտել է ԴԱԵՇ-ի շարքերում կռվող Ստրասբուրգի տասը բնակիչների թվի մեջ:   Նրանցից երկուսը զոհվել են Սիրիայում, իսկ յոթը Ֆրանսիա են վերադարձել: Այդ թվում` Քարիմ Ֆուեդի եղբայրը, որն անցյալ տարվա նոյեմբերին Փարիզում ահաբեկչական գործողությունների մասնակիցներից մեկն է եղել:  

«Իմ կրոնական համոզմունքները ոչ մի կերպ չեն ազդել այնտեղից հեռանալու որոշման վրա,- հայտնել է Քարիմը: Իսլամն օգտագործում էին ինձ թակարդը գցելու համար»: ԴԱԵՇ-ի նյութերի համաձայն, եղբայրները շարիաթի գիտելիքների ամենացածր մակարդակն ունեն: Սիրիայից մեկնումը կապված էր նրա հետ, որ նա այնտեղ իրեն օտար էր զգում:   

Երբ նրան հարցրեցին շարիաթի օրենքների եւ դրանց գործնական կիրառության մասին, Քարիմը մի քանի անգամ կրկնեց. «Ես գիտելիքներ չունեմ այդ հարցին պատասխանելու համար»: ԿՀՎ-ի նախկին գործակալ եւ մերձավորարեւելյան ծայրահեղական խմբավորումների փորձագետ Պատրիկ Սքինները կարծում է, որ կրոնը հաճախ ոչ մի կապ չունի ԴԱԵՇ-ին միանալու որոշման հետ: Նորակոչիկների մի մասն այդ քայլին դիմում է հանուն «պատկանելիության զգացման, փառքի եւ սուր զգացողությունների»:

Դա կարեւոր պահ է, որովհետեւ, նշում է АР-ը, «առաջացած» գիտելիքներով նորակոչիկները ավելի հազվադեպ են մահապարտ դառնում: Չնայած կրոնական փաստարկներին, որոնց օգնությամբ ԴԱԵՇ-ը փորձում է նորակոչիկներին մղել մահապարտ դառնալ,   «նրանք, ովքեր լավագույն գիտելիքների են տիրապետում, ավելի հազվադեպ են կամավոր դառնում»: Այսպիսով` «Իսլամական պետությունը» ավելի շատ նրանց է օգտագործում, ովքեր ամենից քիչ բան գիտեն եւ ավելի հեշտ են ներշնչման ենթարկվում, հայտնում է  Inosmi-ն:
