Այն, որ համաշխարհային սպորտում Հայաստանի ներդրած ավանդն անուրանալի է, գիտեն բոլորը. չնայած մեր երկրի համեստ հնարավորություններին` մենք տասնամյակներ ի վեր կարողացել ենք գրանցել այնպիսի շշմեցնող արդյունքներ ու ձեռբերումներ, որոնք մեզ ազատորեն թույլ են տալիս` դասվելու սպորային գերտերությունների շարքին. Ռիոյի 31-րդ Օլիմպիական խաղերն այս առումով ևս բացառություն չեղան:
Մեր առյուծ տղերքը կրկին ապացուցեցին, որ Հայաստանն արժանի է իր համաշխարհային փառքին, ու, որ մեզ համար կարևորը ոչ թե օլիմպիադային մասնակցելն է, այլ` հաղթանակը. երկար ընմիջումից հետո Արթուր Ալեքսանյանի անօրինակ սխրանքի արդյունքում Հայաստանը վերջապես օլիմպիական ոսկի կարողացավ նվաճալ` մի ձեռքբերում, որի մարզական արժեքն ու երկրի համար ունեցած նշանակությունը ոչ մի կերպ չես կարող թերագնահատել:
Դե իսկ մեր մյուս մարզիկների` Միհրան Հարությունյանի, Գոռ Մինասյանի, Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանինվաճած արծաթե մեդալներն էլ եկան ու է՛լ ավելի ամրապնդեցին մասնակից երկրների ցուցակում Հայաստանի զբաղեցրած դիրքն` աշխարհին ապացուցելով, որ հայ մարզիկի բազկի ուժը շարունակում է անգերազանցելի մնալ (հարկ է նշել, որ Միհրան Հարությունյանի` օլիմպիական արծաթով բավարարվելու փաստը զուտ սուբյեկտիվ հանգամանքներով էր պայմանավորված, ինչն, անշո՛ւշտ, ևս մեկ անգամ փաստում է համաշխարհային սպորտում առկա անցանկալի երևույթների մասին):
Անհերքելի է այն ճշմարտությունը, որ ցանկացած ձեռքբերման հետևում` անկախ այն բանից, թե այն մարդկային գործունեության որ ոլորտում է հաջողվել ունենալ, հարկ է նախևառաջ նշմարել այն հսկայական աշխատանքը, որ սովորաբար նախորդում է հաղթանակներին. սպորտը ևս այդ առումով բացառություն չէ: Անշո՛ւշտ, այս պարագայում նույնպես անհնար է չտեսնել այն հսկայական աշխատանքը, որ ի կատար էր ածվել օլիմպիադային նախորդած շրջանում, երբ հատկապես հայաստանի ազգային օլիմպիական կոմիտեի ջանքերով արվել էր անհնարինը' ներկայիս հաղթանակներն անշրջելի դարձնելու համար:
Հարկ է նշել ՀԱՕԿ նախագահ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանի անձնական ներդրումը` հայկական սպորտի աննախադեպ առաջընթացի գործում, երբ երկար տարիների դադարից հետո կրկին հնարավոր դարձավ իրացնել մեր տաղանդաշատ մարզիկների ողջ պոտենցյալն ու կորստյան չմատնել ունեցած ներուժը:
Անհերքելի է` Օլիմպիական 31-րդ խաղերը հայկական սպորտի փառահեղ պատմության մեջ գրվելու են ոսկե տառերով: Մեր տղաները ևս մեկ անգամ ապացուցեցին, որ արժանի են` իրենց փառապանծ հայրենիքի դեսպանները լինելու մեծ սպորտում ու բարձր պահելու մեր երկրի պատիվը համաշխարհային հարթակներում:
