Շվեդ հետազոտողները եկել են այն եզրակացության, որ կաֆեինը սերտորեն կապված է կրծքերիի չափերի փոքրացման հետ:
Այս բացահայտումը պատահական էր: Իրականում հետազոտողները և Լանդի համալսարանի պրոֆեսոր Հելենա Ջերնսթրոեմը ուսումնասիրում էին կրծքագեղձի քաղցկեղի գենետիկան և ռիսկի գործոնները, և հետազոտության ժամանակ սուրճ օգտագործելը այն հարցերից մեկն էր, որ տրվել էր ուսումնասիրությանը մասնակցող 300 կանանց: Բացի այդ վերցվել են նաև այդ կանանց կրծքերի չափերը:
Հետազոտողները պարզել են, որ նույնիսկ օրական 3 գավաթ սուրճ խմելը կարող է փոքրացնել կրծքի չափը, և ինչքան ավելի շատ սուրճ խմեն, այնքան ավելի կփոքրանա կրծքի չափը: Բայց, իհարկե, սա չի նշանակում, որ կրծքերն այնքան կփոքրանան, որ ընդհանրապես չեն լինի:
Դեռ հաշվարկված չէ, թե քանի սանտիմետր է կուրծքը փոքրանում սուրճից: Ավելին, դեռ նաև պարզ չէ, թե առավելագույնը ինչքան է փոքրանում կուրծքը սուրճի օգտագործումից:
Սակայն կարծես թե արժի ռիսկի դիմել և զոհաբերել մեծ կրծքերը, քանի որ պարզվում է, որ սուրճը կանանց մոտ նվազեցնում է կրծքագեղձի քաղցկեղ ունենալու ռիսկերը: Սա նշանակում է, որ մեծ կրծքեր ունեցողներն ունեն ավելի շատ կաթնագեղձեր և հետևաբար դրանք ավելի շատ տարածք ունեն քաղցկեղածին բջիջների զարգացման համար:
Բացի այդ կաֆեինը նաև հակաօքսիդանտ է, որը պայքարում է օրգանիզմի վնասակար ռադիկալների դեմ: Այն նաև դրական է փոխազդում էստրոգենի հետ, որն էլ կանացի հորմոն է՝ կապված կրծքագեղձի քաղցկեղի հետ:
