Ռիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերում մեկնարկեց հունահռոմեական ըմբշամարտի 75 կգ քաշայինների պայքարում Հայաստանի հավաքականի առաջատար, Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն, աշխարհի չեմպիոն, 29-ամյա Արսեն Ջուլֆալակյանը:

Նրա մրցակիցը Բուլղարիայի ներկայացուցիչ, 24-ամյա Դանիել Ալեքսանդրովն էր, որը գոտեմարտեց Բուլղարիայի հավաքականի գլխավոր մարզիչ, անկախ Հայաստանի միակ օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Արմեն Նազարյանի գլխավորությամբ:

Առաջին մրցափուլն ավարտվեց ոչ ոքի՝ 2:2: Վերջին 2 մավորը վաստակեց բուլղարացի ըմբիշը: Երկրորդ մրցափուլում պասիվության համար Արսեն Ջուլֆալակյանին տված զգուշացումների շնորհիվ 1 միավոր վաստակեց Ալեքսանդրովը, որն էլ հաղթանակ տարավ 3:2 հաշվով:

Հանրային հեռուստատեսության եթերում Արսեն Ջուլֆալակյանի գոտեմարտը չցուցադրվեց, քանի որ եթերում ուրիշ մրցագորգ էր:

1/8 եզրափակիչում կգոտեմարտեն 2012թ. Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերի 75 կգ քաշայինների չեմպիոն, ռուսաստանցի Ռոման Վլասովը եւ Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերում 66 կգ քաշայինների չեմպիոն, հարավկորեացի Կիմ Հյոն Վուն, որը փոխել է քաշային կարգը:

Արսեն Ջուլֆալակյանը ըմբշամարտի Հայաստանի հավաքականի առաջատարներից է, 2009 թվականի Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն է, 2010 թ. աշխարհի փոխչեմպիոն, 2009-2010 թթ. աշխարհի գավաթի բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2011 թ. աշխարհի բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2012 թ. Եվրոպայի բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2012 թ. Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն, 2013 թ. աշխարհի եւ Եվրոպայի բրոնզե մեդալակիր, 2014 թ. Եվրոպայի փոխչեմպիոն, աշխարհի չեմպիոն:

Օլիմպիական փոխչեմպիոնը 2012 թ.-ին պարգեւատրվել է «Հայրենիքին մատուցած ծառայութունների համար» երկրորդ աստիճանի, իսկ 2014-ին՝ «Հայրենիքին մատուցած ծառայութունների համար» առաջին աստիճանի մեդալներով: 2012 թվականին ճանաչվել է Հայաստանի լավագույն մարզիկ:

Ռիո-2016-ը Արսեն Ջուլֆալակյանի երրորդ Օլիմպիական խաղերն են: Անձնական մարզիչն է Սամվել Գեւորգյանը:
