Չնայած «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման դեմ պայքարում եղած հաջողություններին՝ ջիհադականները առաջվա պես լուրջ սպառնալիք են ներկայացնում Իրաքում ու Սիրիայում: Այս մասին հայտնել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման, փոխանցում է BBC–ն:
Օբամայի խոսքով, ԻՊ դեմ ռազմական գործողությունները արդյունք են տվել, ու խմբավորման դիրքերը Մերձավոր արեւելքում արդեն այնքան էլ ուժեղ չեն, որքան առաջ: Սակայն հիմքեր կան ենթադրելու, որ ԻՊ գրոհայինները հիմա կենտրոնացել են Սիրիայի ու Իրաքի սահմաններից դուրս հարձակումներ կազմակերպելու վրա: Սպառնալիքի տակ են այդ թվում Ֆրանսիան, Թուրքիան ու Բանգլադեշը:
ԱՄՆ նախագահը համարում է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն կարող է ինքն իրեն վնասել, եթե երկրի իշխանությունները սխալ որոշում կայացնեն՝ օրինակ եթե ԻՊ դեմ գործողությունների ընթացքում զոհվեն խաղաղ բնակիչներ, կամ եթե քաղաքական գործիչները կատարվածը ներկայացնեն որպես Արեւմուտքի ու իսլամի «քաղաքակրթություններ բախում»:
ԱՄՆ նախագահի կարծիքով ջիհադականները շուտով կկորցնեն հսկողությունը իրենց հենակետի՝ սիրիական Ռաքա քաղաքի, նաեւ իրաքյան Մոսուլի վրա: Օբաման նշել է, որ ԻՊ –ն մեկ տարում ոչ մի լայնածավալ հարձակողական գործողություն չի իրականացրել Սիրիայում ու Իրաքում:
