Նիգերիայի հյուսիս–արեւելքում ապրող մոտ 50 հազար երեխա կարող է մահանալ թերսնումից։ Այս մասին ասել է Արեւմտյան եւ Կենտրոնական Աֆրիկայում ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ–ի տնօրեն Մանուել Ֆոնտենը, փոխանցում է BBC–ի Ռուսական ծառայությունը։
Նրա խոսքով՝ դա Բորնո նահանգում ապրող երեխաների ընդհանուր թվի մոտ մեկ քառորդն է։ Նրանք բուժօգնության եւ սննդի կանոնավոր մատակարարումների կարիք ունեն։
ՅՈՒՆԻՍԵՖ–ից նշել են, որ Բորնո նահանգի բնակիչներից շատերն ապրում են կիսաքանդ քաղաքներում եւ գրեթե չունեն խմելու ջուր եւ ուտելիք։ Շատ ընտանիքներ, որոնց տները քանդվել են, ապրում են հակասանիտարական պայմաններում։
Հունիսին «Բժիշկներ առանց սահմանների» միջազգային կազմակերպությունը հայտնել էր, որ Բորնո նահանգի Բամա քաղաքում վերջին մեկ ամսում քաղցից ավելի քան 200 մարդ է մահացել, որոնք լքել էին իրենց տները «Բոկո Հարամ» խմբավորման գրոհայինների հարձակումների պատճառով։
ԻՊ–ին հավատարմություն հայտնած «Բոկո Հարամը» շարունակում է լուրջ սպառնալիք ներկայացնել տարածաշրջանում։ Խմբավորման ակտիվությունը դժվարացնում է մարդասիրական օգնության մատակարարումները։
