ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտը Թուրքիային ժողովրդավարության սկզբունքներին հետևելու կոչ է արել

Միացյալ Նահանգների պետդեպարտամենտը հերթական անգամ իր մտահոգությունն է հայտնել Թուրքիայում մամուլի և խոսքի ազատության առնչությամբ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի պաշտոնական կայքը, լրագրողների հետ ամենօրյա ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ այս մասին խոսել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի ռազմավարական հաղորդակցության հարցերով գլխավոր խորհրդական Մարի Հարֆը:
«Մենք եղել և շարունակում ենք մնալ մտահոգված Թուրքիայում խոսքի ազատության հարցում կառավարության միջամտության առնչությամբ: Մենք կոչ ենք անում թուրքական իշխանություններին վստահեցնել, որ իրենց գործողությունները համապատասխանում են ժողովրդավարության սկզբունքներին, այդ թվում և խոսքի ազատությանը»,- ասել է Մարի Հարֆը՝ նշելով, որ անկախ մամուլը ցանկացած բաց և ժողովրդավար հասարակության կարևոր տարրն է:
Նախորդ օրը ևս Հարֆը քննադատել էր Թուրքիայում մամուլի ազատության ոտնահարումները: «Մենք կոչ ենք անում թուրքական իշխանություններին սեփական գործողությունները համապատասխանեցնել ժողովրդավարության սկզբունքներին` ներառյալ դատական անկախությունը, խոսքի ազատությունը, մեդիայի և տեղեկատվության հասանելիությունը: Մենք դա բազմիցս ենք ասել և շարունակում ենք մտահոգված մնալ այս հարցով»,- ասել էր նա: Լրագրողի այն հարցին, թե արդյոք Հարֆը քննադատորեն է մոտենում հայերի, հոմոսեքսուալների և լրագրողների հասցեին Էրդողանի արած ռասիստական հայտարարությանը, ԱՄՆ պետդեպի ներկայացուցիչն ասել էր. «Միանշանակ»:
