Կոշիկի էվոլյուցիան միջնադարից մինչեւ XIX դար

Կոշիկի պատմությունը հաշվվում է հազարամյակից ավելի: Ամենահավաստի տվյալներն այն մասին, թե ինչ կոշիկ են հագել մեր նախնիները, վերաբերում են դեռեւս հին Եգիպտոսի եւ հին Հունաստանի գոյության ժամանակներին: Այդ ժամանակներում տարածված էին ամենահնարավոր տեսակի սանդալներ, որոնք պատրաստվում էին այնպես, որ ըստ կոշիկի կարելի էր զանազանել տարբեր դասերի ներկայացուցիչներին: Բացի այդ, տղամարդկանց եւ կանանց կոշիկները տարբերվում էին գույնով, իսկ ձեռագործ եւ մարգարտյա զարդարանքները ցույց էին տալիս, որ այդ կոշիկները նախատեսված էին հատուկ առիթների համար:
Միջնադարյան Եվրոպայում սանդալներին փոխարինելու եկան երկար դեպի վերեւ թեքված քթով կոշիկները` պուլենները: Իսկ XIV դարում կոշիկների երկարությունը տիրոջ ազնվականությունն էր ցուցադրում. կոշիկի երկարությունն ավելանում էր` կախված աստիճանից:
Վերածննդի ժամանակաշրջանում կոշիկները պատրաստվում էին կաշվից, տարբեր գույների թավշյա, մետաքսյա եւ բրդյա կտորներից: Երկարաճիտ կոշիկները պատրաստվում էին փափուկ կաշվից կամ թավշից: Կոշիկները զարդանախշային ծակոտիներով էին:
XV դարում կոշիկներն ավելի հարմարավետ դարձան, փոխվեցին` դառնալով ավելի կարճ ու լայն (նման մոդելները կոչվում են «կովի մռութ»):
XVI դարի կեսերին նորաձեւ դարձան «արջի թաթեր» կոշիկները` գունավոր կաշվից կամ թավշից, առանց կրունկների ու լայն քթերով:
XVII դարում, բարոկկո ժամանակաշրջանում նորաձեւ դարձան ժապավեններով բարձրակրունկները: Պարահանդեսներին նույնիսկ տղամարդիկ էին պարտավոր ներկայանալ խոշոր ժապավեններով զարդարված կոշիկներով: Իսկ առօրյայում նրանք նախընտրում էին քառակուսի քթերով երկարաճիտ կոշիկները` բոտֆորտները:
Այդ ժամանակ կանայք հագնում էին նրբագեղ, թավշյա կամ մետաքսյա թեթեւ կոշիկներ: Հատկանշական է, որ slap-sole shoes մոդելի կոշիկները դարձան հանրաճանաչ, որոնց գաղափարը փոխառված էր տղամարդու զգեստապահարանից: Ի սկզբանե այս կոշիկները կրում էին արական սեռի ներկայացուցիչները` ձիավարության ժամանակ:
XVIII դարում, ռոկոկո ժամանակաշրջանում էլ ավելի է արժեւորվում կոշիկների զարդանախշային լինելը` ձեւավորված ճարմանդներով, ժապավեններով ու ժանյակներով:
Ֆրանսիական հեղափոխության ընթացքում եւ դրանից հետո նորաձեւության մեջ եւս տեղի ունեցավ հեղափոխություն` «վերադարձ դեպի անտիկ զգեստներ» անվամբ: Սա յուրօրինակ բողոք էր արիստոկրատիայի դեմ: Անհետացան բարձր կրունկները, ժողովրդական դարձան գույնզգույն կապերով կոշիկները` հիշեցնելով ժամանակակից «բալետի կոշիկները»:
XIX դարի կեսերին կրկին հայտնվում են բարձրակրունկ կոշիկները: Կոշիկի ձեւը դառնում է ավելի կոշտ, հայտնվում են քուղեր ու ճարմանդներ: Այդ ժամանակի ամենանորաձեւ մոդելներն են կիսակոշիկները եւ երկարաճիտ կոշիկները, միջին բարձրության կրունկներով` զարդարված կոճակներով ու ժանյակներով:
