Ինչո՞ւ է ընդունված նվիրել կենտ թվով ծաղիկներ

Ըստ հայկական, ֆրանսիական և օրինակ ռուսական ավանդույթների` զույգ ծաղիկներ տանում են միայն հուղարկավորումներին, իսկ կենդանի մարդուն ընդունված է նվիրել միայն կենտ թվով ծաղիկներ:
Գրեթե ամբողջ Եվրոպայում, ԱՄՆ-ում և արևելյան երկրներում հակառակն է՝ նվիրում են զույգ թվով ծաղիկներ, որովհետև համարում են, որ զույգը հաջողություն է բերում:
Իսրայելցիները նվիրում են միայն զույգ թվով ծաղիկներ, իսկ հուղարկավորությունների ժամանակ ծաղիկ ընդհանրապես չեն բերում: Վրաստանում համարում են, որ այն, ինչ կապված է ընտանեկան արժեքների հետ, երջանկություն է բերում, այդ պատճառով երկու ծաղիկը (զույգ) երջանիկ համադրություն է, իսկ գերեզման տանում են կենտ թվով ծաղիկներ, որպեսզի «հանգուցյալը իր հետ չտանի զույգը»:
Այս ավանդույթի և սնահավատության արմատները պետք է փնտրել նախաքրիստոնեական աշխարհում:
Ըստ հեթանոսական համոզմունքների` զույգ թվերը չարի և մահվան թվերն են: Կենտ թվերը՝ ընդհակառակը՝ երջանկության, հաջողության և բարեկեցության սիմվոլներ են:
Նշանների լեզվով ամեն մի թիվ ունի իր նշանակությունը, և իբր հենց սրանից պետք է օգտվել, որպեսզի ծաղկեփունջը ճիշտ իմաստ ունենա: Այսպես, երբ դուք նվիրում եք մեկ ծաղիկ, ապա դա նշանակում է, որ այն մարդը, ում Դուք ծաղիկ եք նվիրել, միակն է Ձեր կյանքում: Նվիրելով երեք ծաղիկ` Դուք Ձեր ցանկությունն եք հայտնում գնալ սիրելիի հետ թեկուզ աշխարհի ծայրը: Դե իսկ 5 ծաղիկը նշանակում է. «Ես քեզ սիրում եմ»:
