Մոլդովայում ընթացող բասկետբոլի Եվրոպայի փոքր երկրների առաջնության չեմպիոնի կոչումը նվաճեց Հայաստանի հավաքականը:
Եզրափակչում հայ բասկետբոլիստները 79:71 հաշվով առավելության հասան Անդորրայի ընտրանու նկատմամբ:
Այս աննախադեպ հաղթանակի շնորհիվ Հայաստանի բասկետբոլի հավաքականն իրավունք է նվաճել հաջորդ մրցաշրջանում մասնակցելուԵվրոպայի առաջնության եզրափակիչ փուլի ընտրականի մրցաշարին:
Հայաստանի բասկետբոլի հավաքականը՝ Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն... Սա մի ժամանակ կարող էր զավեշտալի հնչել, լեգենդների շարքին դասվել, բայց հայկական սպորտի ղեկավարներն ապացուցեցին, որ հավատալու, տքնաջան աշխատելու և նպատակաուղղված քայլերի արդյունքում կարելի է իրականություն դարձնել ամենահամարձակ ու ամենահավակնոտ նպատակները:
Այս նվաճման մեջ, անշուշտ, գլխավոր դերը վերապահված է Հայաստանի օլիմպիական կոմիտեի ղեկավար, գործարար - բարերար Գագիկ Ծառուկյանին, մարդ, ում անվան հետ անքակտելիորեն կապված են վերջին տասնամյակների հայկական սպորտի գրեթե բոլոր ձեռքբերումները: Բացի հաղթողներին արժանավայել պարգևատրելուց և խրախուսելուց՝ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանը տարիներ շարունակ նպատակաուղղված ներդրումներ է կատարել և շարունակում է կատարել մարզական ենթակառուցվածքների զարգացման, մարզադպրոցների ու մարզաբազաների կայացման համար, ինչի արդյունքում մենք սկսեցինք լուրջ հաջողություններ գրանցել թե՛ անհատական, թե՛ թիմային մարզաձևերում: Ողջ աշխարհին է հայտնի անհատական մարզաձևերում հայ մարզիկների գրանցած հաջողությունները՝ ընդհուպ մինչև բարձրագույն կոչումների նվաճում։ Սակայն, ավանդաբար, թիմային մարզաձևերում մերոնց նվաճումները սակավաթիվ են, իսկ բասկետբոլում՝ դրանք ուղղակի չկային։ Սա առաջին լուրջ հաջողությունն է և այս առումով խիստ կարևոր։
Վստահ եմ՝ սա դեռ սկիզբն է: Վստահությունս հիմքեր ունի՝ հայրենական սպորտի ղեկավարի անձնուրաց աշխատանքն ու նվիրումը:
