«Երեկ սկսվեց Հռոմի սրբազան քահանայապետ Ֆրանցիսկոս պապի այցը Հայաստան: Այցն իսկապես կարևոր, աննախադեպ, պատմական նշանակություն ունեցող իրադարձություն է, որը ոչ միայն առաջիկա մի քանի օրերին Հայաստանը կդարձնի համաշխարհային ուշադրության ու քննարկումների առարկա, այլև մեծ ազդեցություն կունենա աշխարհում Հայաստանի, հայ ժողովրդի վերաբերյալ ընկալումների վրա:
Առաջիկա օրերը գերհագեցած են լինելու Պապի մասնակցությամբ իրադարձություններով: Առաջիկա օրերին ուշադրությունը կենտրոնանալու է առավելապես ձևի՝ արարողակարգերի, պատարագների, հանդիպումների մանրամասների վրա, որոնք, անշուշտ, նման դեպքերում ունեն չափազանց մեծ նշանակություն, սակայն, բնականաբար, չեն արտահայտում իրադարձության ողջ բովանդակությունը: Այն բովանդակությունը, որն ընդհանուր առմամբ ընկած է Կաթոլիկների աշխարհի հոգևոր առաջնորդի կերպարի ու այն համամարդկային ուղերձների մեջ, որը նա քարոզում է ամբողջ աշխարհում: Սեր, մարդասիրություն, պարկեշտություն, ազնվություն, համեստություն…
Որակումների շարքը կարելի է երկար շարունակել: Բայց մեզ՝ Հռոմի պապին հյուրընկալող Հայաստանի ու հայաստանցիներիս համար կարևոր է ոչ միայն՝ լսել նրա ուղերձները, այլև՝ գոնե այս օրերին փորձել հասկանալ՝ որքանո՞վ ենք մենք՝ որպես պետություն, որպես քրիստոնեությունն առաջինն ընդունած ժողովրդի հետնորդներ, մեր մեջ կրում իրական քրիստոնեական արժեքները, որքանո՞վ ենք հավատարիմ սրբազան պատվիրաններին, որքանո՞վ ենք մարդասեր իրականում՝ բովանդակության, և ոչ թե՝ ձևի մեջ: Սրանք անհատական, անձնային կատեգորիաներ են, բայց անխուսափելիորեն ունենում են նաև հանրային, պետական հետևանքներ:
Որովհետև պետության, հասարակության ճակատագրի վերաբերյալ որոշումներ կայացնողների համապատասխան որակներն անխուսափելիորեն ազդում են հանրային կյանքի կենսագործունեության բոլոր ոլորտների վրա: Եվ այսօր՝ Հռոմի պապին հյուրընկալելիս, մենք ոչ միայն պետք է մեր հայացքն ուղղենք սրբազան հովվապետին՝ մտածելով, թե ինչ է նա «բերելու» Հայաստան, այլ նաև հասկանանք՝ ինչ է նա «տանելու» Հայաստանից»,-գրում է թերթը:
