Հայաստանում բնակվող մշտական բնակչության թիվը գրեթե հասնում է 3 միլիոնի՝ 2 միլիոն 994 հազար 400 մարդ, որից 1 միլիոն 904 հազար 700-ը` քաղաքային, իսկ 1 միլիոն 89 հազար 700-ը՝ գյուղական: Միայն Երեւանում այսօր ապրում է 1 միլիոնից մի փոքր ավելի մարդ՝ 1 միլիոն 73 հազար 400: Եթե հաշվի առնենք, որ վարդագույն քաղաքի մակերեսն ընդամենը 300 քառակուսի կմ է, ապա քաղաքի յուրաքանչյուր բնակչին հասնում է մոտավորապես 0,28 քառակուսի մետր տարածք:

Ըստ Ազգային վիճակագրական ծառայության հրապարակման՝ մշտական բնակչության թվաքանակով առաջին տեղում է Արմավիրի մարզը՝ 266 հազար 400 բնակիչ, փոքր-ինչ զիջում է Արարատի մարզը՝ 258 հազար 500 մարդ: Բնակչության թվով երրորդ տեղում է Կոտայքի մարզը՝ 253 հազար 500 մարդ:

Ամենից քիչ բնակեցված մարզը Վայոց ձորն է՝ 50 հազար 700 բնակիչ: Ամենից շատ գյուղական բնակչություն ունի Արարատի մարզը՝ 185 հազար 600 մարդ, ամենից քիչ Վայոց ձորի մարզը՝ 33 հազար բնակիչ:

Քաղաքային բնակչության թվով առաջին տեղում է Կոտայքի մարզը՝ 137 հազար 600 բնակիչ, իսկ ամենից քիչը կրկին Վայոց ձորում է՝ ընդամենը 17 հազար 700 մշտական բնակիչ:

Հայաստանի ամենից շատ բնակեցված քաղաքը Գյումրին է՝ 117 հազար 400 բնակչով, իսկ ամենաքիչ բնակիչներ ունեցողը Սյունիքի մարզի Դաստակերտ քաղաքն է՝ ընդամենը 300 մշտական բնակչով:

Ինչ վերաբերում է Երեւանին, ապա մայրաքաղաքի ամենախիտ բնակչություն ունեցող թաղամասը Շենգավիթն է, աստեղ է բնակվում 139 հազար 100 մարդ, գրեթե 466 անգամ ավելի շատ, քան Դաստակերտում է: Դե, իսկ մայրաքաղաքի ամենաքիչ բնակչությունն ունեցող թաղամասն էլ Նուբարաշենն է՝ 9 հազար 800 դրամ: Այն Դաստակերտի բնակչությունից ավելի է 32 անգամ:
