Եվրախորհրդարանի Եվրոպական պահպանողականների եւ ռեֆորմիստների խմբակցության փոխնախագահ Հանս-Օլաֆ Հենքելը կարծում է, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունն ընդունելու, մեղքի պատասխանատվությունը իր վրա վերցնելու համար ամենահարմար խորհրդարանը  հենց Թուրքիայինն է: 

«Դա այդ երկրի պատասխանատվությունն է, այլ ոչ թե մյուսներինը»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց գերմանացի պատգամավորը:

Նրա խոսքով՝ գերմանական դպրոցների կրթական ծրագրերում Հայոց ցեղասպանության թեմայի ներառումը շատ լավ միտք է, քանի որ այն կազմում է պատմության մի մասը:

«Կարծում եմ՝ այն, իսկապես, պետք է ուսուցանվի դպրոցներում. ես կցանկանայի, որ սա նախեւառաջ դասավանդեին Թուրքիայի դպրոցներում: Ամբողջ աշխարհում հայտնի է բան է, որ առանձին երկրներ  փորձում են ուսուցանել այն պատմությունը, որն իրենց երկիրը կներկայացնի միայն լավ կողմից: Այս հարցում, թերեւս, Գերմանիան բացառություն է, որն իր ժողովրդին ներկայացնում է Առաջին եւ Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմների ընթացքում իրականացրած վայրագությունները»,-նշեց նա:

Անդրադառնալով Թուրքիայի արձագանքին, որն ընդհուպ ստիպեց Գերմանիայի թուրք պատգամավորներից մեկին հանդես գալ Էրդողանի մուտքը երկրի տարածք արգելելու կոչով՝ Հանս-Օլաֆ Հենքելը նշեց, որ դա պարզապես սարսափելի երեւույթ է:

«Էրդողանը տանում է ամբողջ երկիրը սխալ ուղղությամբ, 10 տարի առաջ այն միգուցե այլ երկիր էր, օրինակ՝ գոնե հարաբերականորեն ազատ մամուլ ուներ, սակայն Էրդողանի օրոք, այն գնում է դեպի ներքեւ»,- ասաց Հանս-Օլաֆ Հենքելը:

Հունիսի 2–ին Գերմանիայի Բունդեսթագն ընդունեց «1915 թ. հայերի և մյուս քրիստոնյա փոքրամասնությունների ցեղասպանության հիշատակի և ոգեկոչման մասին» անվանումը կրող Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման բանաձևը, ինչից հետո Թուրքիան առաջին քայլով հետ կանչեց Գերմանիայում Թուրքիայի արտակարգ եւ լիազոր դեսպանին, ապա մեղադրանքներ հնչեցրեց Բունդեսթագի թուրքական արմատներ ունեցող պատգամավորների նկատմամբ, ինչը բողոքի լայն ալիք բարձրացրեց Բունդեսթագի ներսում ընդդեմ Թուրքիայի, ընդհուպ մինչեւ Բունդեսթագի նախագահ Նորբերթ Լամերթի՝ Էրդ ողանին ուղղված հայտարարությունը. «Առանձին պատգամավորների վրա սպառնալիքների միջոցով ճնշում գործադրել նշանակում է հարձակվել ողջ խորհրդարանի վրա»։ 

Հունիսի 16-ին հայտնի դարձավ, որ Գերմանիայում քննարկվում է դպրոցների կրթական ծրագրում Հայոց ցեղասպանության թեման ներառելու հարցը:
