Ներկայացնում ենք թերթի խմբագրականից մի հատված.
«Գորբաչովը և Ելցինը խորհրդային համակարգի մի մասն էին՝ Պոլիտբյուրոյի անդամներ։ Այնուամենայնիվ, նրանց գործուն մասնակցությամբ այդ համակարգը քանդվեց, չքննարկենք՝ արդյոք դա դրական երևու՞յթ Էր, թե՝ բացասական։ Պուտինը համեմատաբար նոր և համեմատաբար ժողովրդավարական Ռուսաստանի իշխող համակարգի մաս Էր, և այդ դերում իր ճանապարհն սկսեց մտավորական Անատոլի Սոբչակի թիմում, այնահետև Մոսկվայում՝ Ելցինի վարչակազմում տարբեր պաշտոններ Էր զբաղեցնում։ Բայց արդեն մի քանի տարի Է՝ Պուտինը փորձում Է տանել երկիրը հակառակ՝ «խորհրդային» ուղղությամբ (դարձյալ չքննարկենք, թե որքանով Է դա հնարավոր, եթե Գորբաչովը ու Ելցինը խորհրդային շրջանում լինեին այլախոհներ, կամ եթե Պուտինը Ելցինի շրջանում լիներ որևէ կոմունիստական խմբակի անդամ, նրանց հաստատ չէր հաջողվի իրագործել իրենց նպատակները։
Խնդիրն, իհարկե, այդքան միանշանակ չի։ Կարելի է գտնվել համակարգից դուրս և ազդել, նպաստել դրա փլուզմանը կամ արմատական վերափոխմանը։ Նպաստել, ոչ թե իրագործել։ Այսինքն՝ Ելցինը հաշվի էր նստում խորհրդային այլախոհների և քիչ թե շատ ազատական հայացքներ ունեցող մտավորականների օրինակ՝ նույն պրոֆեսոր Սոբչակի) կարծիքի հետ, Պուտինն, անշուշտ, տեսնում է «ճոճանակի» հակառակ կողմը՝ «Ռուսաստանի կայսերական փառքը վերականգնելու» ձգտումն արտահայտող հասարակական տրամադրությունները։ Բայց գործող անձինք սովորաբար համակարգից են՝ նույնիսկ Սաակաշվիլին էր Շևարդնաձեի մոտ արդարադատության նախարար աշխատում»,–գրում է թերթի խմբագիրը։
