Օռլանդոյի գեյ-ակումբում հունիսի լույս 12-ի գիշերը հիսուն մարդ սպանած Օմար Մատինի նախկին կինը լրագրողներին պատմել Է, որ նա հոգեպես անհավասարակշիռ մարդ Էր, ծեծում Էր իրեն եւ արգելում Էր զանգահարել հարազատներին, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով BBC-ին:
Սիթորա Յուսուֆին Մատինի հետ ամուսնացել Է 2009 թվականին: 2011 թվականին, France-Presse-ի տվյալներով՝ ամուսինները բաժանվել են, ինչից հետո Յուսուֆին, իր խոսքով՝դադարել Է շփումը նախկին ամուսնու հետ:
Նրա հիշողություններով՝ Մատինը, որը ծնունդով Նյու Յորքի նահանգից Էր եւ աֆղանական ծագում ուներ, չարաշահում Էր ստերոիդները, աչքի Էր ընկնում հոմոֆոբիական հայացքներով եւ ձգտում Էր աշխատանքի տեղավորվել ոստիկանությունում, սակայն արմատական իսլամիզիմի նկատմամբ ոչ մի կարգի հակվածություն կինը նրա մոտ չի նկատել:
Reuters գործակալությունը նշում Է, որ Մատինը գրեթե 10 տարի աշխատել Է G4S աշխարհի խոշորագույն պահնորդական կազմակերպությունում, որտեղ զենք կրելը մտել Է նրա ուղղակի պարտականությունների մեջ: Այժմ պարզվում Է, թե նա ակումբում ինչ զենքով Է կրակել՝ աշխատանքային թե անձնական:
G4S-ի ներկայացուցիչները պաշտոնապես հավաստել են այդ տեղեկավտությունը: Գործակալությանը նաեւ հաջողվել Է խոսել հրաձիգի գործընկերներից մեկի հետ: Նա հայտարարել Է, որ Մատինը չափազանց ինքնամփոփ մարդ Է եղել եւ գործնականում երբեք չի ժպտացել:
Ամերիկացի լրագրողները, վկայակոչելով ոչ պաշտոնական աղբյուրներ, պնդում են, թե Մատինը կարող Էր կապված լինել վերջերս բանտից ազատված արմատական իմամի հետ: Պաշտոնապես այս տեղեկատվությունը չի հաստատվում:
