«Եվրո 2016». Ուելսի 1-ին հաղթանակը Եվրոների եզրափակիչ փուլերում

«Եվրո 2016»-ում պայքարի մեջ մտան B խմբի երկու ազգային հավաքականներ: Բորդոյում Ուելսի հավաքականը մրցեց Սլովակիայի ազգային ընտրանու հետ:
Խաղն ավարտվեց 2-1 հաշվով՝ հօգուտ բրիտանացիների: Թիմերը խաղադաշտ էին դուրս եկել հետևյալ մեկնարկային կազմերով.
Ուելս` Ուորդ, Գանտեր, Թեյլոր, Չեսթեր, Է.Ուիլյամս, Դեյվիս, Էդվարդս, Ջո Ալեն, Ռեմզի, Բեյլ, Ջ. Ուիլյամս:
Սլովակիա` Կոզաչիկ, Պեկարիկ, Դյուրիցա, Շկրտել, Շվենտո, Հրոշովսկի, Կուցկա, Մակ, Համշիկ, Վայս, Դյուրիշ:
Գլխավոր մրցավար` Սվեն Մոեն:
1-ին խաղակեսը մեկնարկեց Սլովակիայի հավաքականի առավելությամբ: Արդեն 3-րդ րոպեին Մարեկ Համշիկը, գնդակն ստանալով դարպասից մոտ 35մ հեռավորության վրա, անցավ Ուելսի հավաքականի բոլոր պաշտպաններին և հարվածեց անպաշտպան դարպասին: Անձնուրաց սահանկմամբ գնդակն անպաշտպան դարպասից հանեց Բեն Դևիսը: 7 րոպե անց Ուելսն ստացավ տուգանային հարվածի իրավունք: Գարեթ Բեյլը ձախ ոտքի անկասելի հարվածով գնդակը մխրճեց սլովակների դարպասը: Ուելսն առաջ անցավ հաշվի մեջ 1-0: Առաջին խաղակեսն այսպես էլ ավարտվեց և թիմերը ավելին անել չկարողացան:
2-րդ խաղակեսը սկսվեց 2 թիմերի փոխադարձ գրոհներով, սակայն ավելի վտանգավոր էին ուելսցիները: 56-րդ րոպեին Գարեթ Բեյլը կրկին կրակի տակ առավ սլովակների դարպասը, այս անգամ գնդակը հրաշքով չհայտնվեց դարպասում: Սլովակիան կարողացավ միայն պատասխանել 60-րդ րոպեին, որբ փոխարինման դուրս եկած Օլջեյ Դուդան գրավեց Ուելսի դարպասը և հավասարեցրեց հաշիվը: Խաղադաշտում հարաբերական դադար եղավ մինչև 73-րդ րոպեն, երբ Արոն Ռեմզիի գլխի հարվածից հետո գնդակը մի փոքր բարձր ընթացավ և չհայտնվեց սլովակների դարպասում: Ուելսը շարունակեց առաջ նետվել և 81-րդ րոպեին փոխարինման դուրս եկած Ռոբսոն Կանուն, օգտվելով նույն Ռեմզիի փոխանցումից, 2-րդ անգամ գրավեց Սլովակիայի հավաքականի դարպասը` 2-1: Սլովակները վտանգավոր գրոհով պատասխանեցին 86-րդ րոպեին, երբ Ադամ Նեմեցի հարվածից հետո գնդակը դիպավ ուղղահայաց դարպասաձողին և Ուելսը փրկվեց: Հանդիպումը այդպես էլ ավարտվեց Ուելսը տարավ 1-ին հաղթանակը և գլխավորեց մրցաշարային աղյուսակը 2-րդ խմբում:
