ԱՄՆ-ում հաջողությամբ են անցել այն նոր տեխնոլոգիայի փորձարկումները, որը սրտի պատվաստման հերթի կանգնած հիվանդներին թույլ Է տալիս առանց այդ կենսականորեն կարեւոր օրգանի դիմանալ երկար ժամանակ: Սթեն Լարկինն ապրել Է 17 ամիս, եւ այդ ժամանահատվածում սրտի գործառույթները կատարել Է նրա ուսապայուսակում դրված սարքը, հաղորդում Է«Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով CNET-ին:
Լարկինին (այժմ նա 25 տարեկան Է) եւ նրա ավագ եղբորը դեռ տասը տարի առաջ ախտորոշել են «ընտանեկան կարդիոմիոպատիա»՝ սրտամկանի ժառանգական հիվանդություն, որի դեպքում 10-20 տարեկան հասակում սիրտն աստիճանաբար դադարում Է աշխատել: 2014 թվականի դեկտեմբերին Լարկինի այդ օրգանը հեռացրել են, արհեստական սիրտ են տեղադրել, իսկ հետո այն միացրել SynCardia Freedom Portable Driver անվանմամբ սարքին. այն կշռում Է 6 կիլոգրամ եւ իր վրա Է վերցնում օրգանիզմին արյուն մղելու խնդիրը:
Սարքը նախատեսված Է այն հիվանդների համար, որոնց սիրտը կանգ Է առել: Այն կրում են ուսապայուսակի մեջ. դա Էներգիայի առաջին դյուրակիր աղբյուրն Է արյուն մղելու համար (ավելի վաղ հիվանդները արհեստական սրտին միացվում Էին ստացիոնար սարքերով, որոնք կշռում են մի քանի հարյուր կիլոգրամ): SynCardia Freedom Portable Driver-ը 2014 թվականին անցել Է բոլոր կլինիկական փորձարկումները:
