Աշոտ Եսայանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է.
Մայիսի 28-ը Հայաստանի Առաջին Հանրապետության օրն է: Սարդարապատում մայիսի 26-ին տեղի ունեցած ճակատամարտում հաղթելով թուրքական բանակին, հայկական զորքերին հաջողվեց կասեցնել թուրքական բանակի ներխուժումը Անդրկովկաս, այդպիսով փրկելով Հայաստանը լիակատար ոչնչացումից: Հայկական հանրապետությունը (Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունը) հռչակվեց «Հայկական ազգային խորհրդի» կողմից 1918 թվականի մայիսի 28-ին Թիֆլիսում` Անդրկովկասյան ժողովրդավարական դաշնային հանրապետության փլուզումից հետո: Հայաստանի առաջին հանրապետությունը գոյատևեց ընդամենը 2 տարի, երբ 1920 դեկտեմբերի 2-ին Երևան մտան 11-րդ Կարմիր բանակի զորամասերը և հանրապետությունը խորհրդայնացվեց: Այնուհետև Հայաստանի Անկախության հռչակագիրն ընդունվեց 1991թ. օգոստոսի 23-ին Հայաստանի Գերագույն Խորհրդի առաջին նստաշրջանում: Խորհրդարանի որոշմամբ` 1991թ. սեպտեմբերի 21-ին անցկացվեց ԽՍՀՄ կազմից դուրս գալու և անկախ պետականություն հռչակելու մասին հանրաքվե: Հանրաքվեն անցկացվեց խորհրդային ընտրական օրենսգրքով և անցավ ազատ ու թափանցիկ: Անկախության Հանրաքվեի ընթացքին հետևեց 117 դիտորդ` 25 երկրից:
Խորհրդային Հայաստանի քաղաքացիների 94,99 տոկոսն «այո» ասաց Անկախությանը:
Երկու օր անց` սեպտեմբերի 23-ին, Գերագույն Խորհուրդը Հայաստանը հռչակեց անկախ, ինքնիշխան պետություն:
Մայիսի 28-ը հիշարժան է նաև մեր ոչ բարով հարևան ադրբեջանի համար: Ադրբեջանական ազգային պետականությունը ձևավավովել է 1918 թ–ի մայիսին, երբ Ռուսական կայսրությունից անջատված Անդրկովկասում ստեղծեցին Վրաստանի, Ադրբեջանի և Հայաստանի հանրապետությունները։ Ադրբեջանական Հանրապետությունը գոյություն ունեցավ մինչև 1920 թ–ի ապրիլի 28-ը, երբ այստեղ՝ հաստատվեցին խորհրդային կարգերը: Աշխարհագրականորեն բուն Ադրբեջանից անջատված է նրա կազմի մեջ մտնող Նախիջևանի Հանրապետությունը, որի տարածքը կազմել է Մեծ Հայքի մի մասը և մտել է նրա տարբեր աշխարհների (Այրարատ, Սյունիք, Վասպուրական) կազմերի մեջ, սակայն 1921 թ–ին Խորհրդային Ռուսաստանի և քեմալական Թուրքիայի միջև կնքված պայմանագրով այն Ադրբեջանին է բռնակցվել (ավելի ուշ՝ 1924 թ–ին, այստեղ ստեղծվել է Նախիջևանի Ինքնավար Հանրապետությունը)։ Նույն՝ 1921 թ–ին, Մոսկվայի պայմանագրով Ադրբեջանին էր միացվել նաև Արցախը (1923 թ–ին այստեղ կազմավորվել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի Ինքնավար Մարզը, որը 1991 թ–ի սեպտեմբերի 2–ին հռչակեց իր անկախությունը)։ 1991 թ–ին Ադրբեջանը հռչակեց իր անկախությունը, որն առաջին ճանաչեց Թուրքիան։ 2003 թ–ից նախագահը Իլհամ Ալիևն է։
