 Աշխարհի բոլոր երկրները և միջազգային կառույցները պետք է հարգեն ինքնորոշման իրավունքի իրացումը, հարգեն այն ժողովուրդներին, որոնք պայքարում են ինքնորոշման իրավունքի իրացման համար: Ազգային ժողովում Էկվադորի խորհրդարանական պատվիրակության հետ հանդիպումից հետո լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանն այս մասին ասաց ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը:

«Մեր տարածաշրջանում այդպիսին է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ժողովուրդը: Ես շնորհակալ եմ այն ընկալման համար, որ դուք կարևորում եք ժողովուրդների ինքնորոշման իրավունքը: Այլ կերպ չէր էլ կարող լինել, որովհետև, երբ ՄԱԿ-ը ստեղծվեց, 56 կամ 57 երկիր էին անդամակցում, իսկ այսօր՝ 150-ից ավել, իսկ ՄԱԿ-ի սկզբունքներից մեկն էլ հենց ազգերի ինքնորոշման իրավունքն է»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ դիմելով էկվադորցի գործընկերներին՝ ասաց Շարմազանովը:

Շարմազանովը շնորհակալություն հայտնեց էկվադորցի գործընկերներին այն դիրքորոշման համար, որ ժողովուրդների ինքնորոշման իրավունքի հաղթարշավը պետք է շարունակվի: «Ես հույս ունեմ, որ մոտ ապագայում մենք ականատես կլինենք նոր ինքնորոշված սուբյեկտի՝ ի դեմս ազատ ու անկախ Արցախի»,- եզրափակեց ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահը:

Էկվադորի խորհրդարանի պատվիրակությունը մայիսի 27-ին խատանքային այցով ժամանել է Հայաստան: Էկվադորցի խորհրդարանականներն այցելել են Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը հավերժացնող Ծիծեռնակաբերդի հուշահամալիր, որից հետո ՀՀ ԱԺ-ում հանդիպում են ունեցել ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովի հետ: Էկվադորի խորհրդարանի ներկայացուցիչները մայիսի 27-ին հանդիպում կունենան նաև ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի հետ:
