Բրիտանացի երգչուհի Ադելը Billboard Music Awards-ի երաժշտական մրցանակի դափնեկիրն Է դարձել «Տարվա լավագույն արտիստ» գլխավոր կատեգորիայում: Հեղինակավոր պարգեւի հանձնման 24-րդ արարողությունը տեղի Է ունեցել մայիսի 22-ին ամերիկյան Լաս Վեգասում (Նեւադայի նահանգ):

Ընդամենն Ադելը, որը չի կարողացել ներկա գտնվել միջոցառմանը, քանի որ հանդես Է գալիս հյուրախաղերով, անվանակարգվել Էր ութ պարգեւների: Դրանցից նա ստացել Է հինգը, ներառյալ «Լավագույն երգչուհի» եւ « Billboard 200-ի լավագույն ալբոմ» անվանակարգերի մրցանակները: Վերջին կոչմանն արժանացել Է բրիտանուհու «25» անվանումը կրող երրորդ ստուդիական սկավառակը, որը դարձել Է անցյալ տարվա ամենավաճառվող սկավառակը:

Անվանակարգերի թվով ռեկորդակիրը The Weeknd կանադացի կատարողն Էր, որն Էլ արդյունքում առաջատարը դարձավ ստացած արձանիկների թվաքանակով: Նա 19 հնարավորից նվաճեց ութ պարգեւ, ներառյալ «Top Hot 100 չարթի լավագույն արտիստ» եւ «Ռիթմ-են-բլյուզ» ոճի լավագույն կատարող» մրցանակները:

«Լավագույն երգիչ» կատեգորիայում հաղթանակ Է տարել կանադացի Ջասթին Բիբերը, որը շրջանցել Է իր հայրենակցին՝ ռեփեր Դրեյքին, բրիտանացի հեղինակ Էդ Շիրանին, ինչպես նաեւ ամերիկացի հիփ-հոփ կատարող Ֆեթի Վափին: Վերջինս ճանաչվել Է «Լավագույն նոր արտիստ»: Անցկացված արարողությունը կատարյալ հիասթափություն Է դարձել երիտասարդ փոփ-աստղ Թեյլոր Սվիֆթի համար, որն ութ անվանակարգերում միայն մեկ արձանիկ ստացավ «Լավագույն հյուրախաղորդ արտիստ» կատեգորիայում:

«Լավագույն դուետ կամ խումբ» անվանակարգում պարգեւը հաջողվել Է նվաճել բրիտանացի One Direction բրիտանական խմբին, որը հաղթել Է Maroon 5-ի եւ Twenty One Pilots-ի ամերիկացիներին, ինչպես նաեւ լեգենդար The Rolling Stones-ին ու U2-ի հռչակավոր իռլանդացիներին: «Լավագույն ռոք կատարողներ» են ճանաչվել Twenty One Pilots-ը, իսկ նրանց վերջին սկավառակը՝ Blurryface-ը, դարձել Է «Լավագույն ռոք ալբոմ»:  

Billboard Music Awards-ի ամենամյա մրցանակը հիմնվել Է 1989 թվականին Billboard նշանավոր երաժշտական հանդեսի կողմից:

Grammy Awards-ի եւ American Music Awards-ի հետ միասին այն մտնում Է ԱՄՆ-ի առաջատար երաժշտական պարգեւների եռյակի մեջ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
