Եթե ավելի մեղմ բնորոշելու լինենք՝ «Մայիսի 9-ը՝» Հայրենական Մեծ պատերազմի հաղթանակի օրը, Ադրբեջանում առավելապես «համազգային տխրության օր» է, քանի որ այն ասոցացվում է նաև Շուշիի կորստյան և առհասարակ՝ ղարաբաղյան պատերազմում կրած պարտության հետ: «Ադրբեջանական փողոցում» տրամադրություններն անկումային էին, ճնշող: Հաղթանակի օրը հետևյալ «տոնական» արտահայտություններն էին թևածում «ադրբեջանական փողոցում»՝ «Մայիսի 9-ը չպետք է Հաղթանակի տոն համարել, այն մերը չէ, մեզ հետ որևէ կապ չունի, չնայած, որ հազարներով ադրբեջանցի է զոհվել, և Ադրբեջանի նավթի հաշվին են Գերմանիային ծնկի բերել», կամ՝«Մայիսը մեզ համար ամենավատ ամիսն է: Մեր հողերը թշնամու ձեռքին են, իսկ մենք դեռ տոնից ու հաղթանակից ենք խոսում», «մայիսի 8-ից հետո, երբ կորցրել ենք մեր տարածքների 20 % -ը, մայիսի 9-ը չի կարող մեզ համար հաղթանակի տոն լինել», «մայիսի 9-ը կլինի տոն միայն այն ժամանակ, երբ Ղարաբաղը հետ վերադարձվի»:
Ոմանք նույնիսկ Հայրենական պատերազմում տարած հաղթանակը վերագրում են բացառապես ռուս ժողովրդին, իսկ առավել հուսալքվածներն էլ նշել են՝ «Եթե գերմանացիները հաղթեին, մեզ համար լույս կբացվեր»։
