Իտալիայի ոստիկանությունը ձերբակալել է մաֆիայի 11 անդամի «կոզա նոստրայի» ղեկավարի՝ Մատեո Մեսինա Դենարոյի մերձավոր շրջապատից։
Ինչպես այսօր հաղորդել է Сorriere della Sera թերթը, ձերբակալություններն իրականացվել են Տրապանի եւ Պալերմո նահանգներում «Հերմես» գործողության ընթացքում։ Ձերբակալվածների թվում է 77- ամյա Վիտո Գոնդոլան, որը, հետաքննության տվյալների համաձայն, գաղտնի ղեկավարել է «կոզա նոստրայի» ղեկավարի հեռահաղորդակցական ցանցը։ Թերթը նշել է, որ հանցագործները շփվում են փոքրիկ թղթերի վրա արված «պիցցինի» կոչվող գրությունների միջոցով, որոնք թաքցնում են ֆերմաներում՝ գաղտնի վայրերում եւ այրում են կարդալուց հետո։ Դրանց միջոցով Դենարոն հրահանգներ էր փոխանցում իր ենթականերին։
Ոստիկանությունը կասկածում է, որ որոշ ֆերմերներ տեղյակ էին դրան եւ աջակցում էին մաֆիայի անդամներին, փոխանցում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։ «Ես շնորհակալ եմ քննիչներին, օրինապահ ուժերին եւ պետության բոլոր ներկայացուցիչներին այն հարվածի համար, որ հասցրել են մաֆիոզ կազմակերպությանը՝ ձերբակալելով Դենարոյի շրջապատի այդ մարդկանց,- հայտարարել է Իտալիայի վարչապետ Մատեո Ռենցին։ Շնորհակալ եմ կառավարության անունից եւ կոչ եմ անում գնալ մինչեւ վերջ՝ ձերբակալելու համար հանցավոր ընկերակցության ղեկավարին։
Մատեո Մեսինա Դենարոն գլխավորում է Իտալիայում հետախուզվող հանցագործների ցուցակը․ նա արդեն ավելի քան քսան տարի փախուստի մեջ է։ Համարվում է, որ հենց նա է դարձել «կոզա նոստրայի» ղեկավարը «կնքահայրերի»՝ 1993- ին Տոտո Րիինայի եւ 2006 –ին Բեռնարդո Պրովինցանոյի ձերբակալությունից հետո։ Վերջին մի քանի տարվա ընթացքում ոստիկանությունը մի շարք հարվածներ է հասցրել հանցավոր կազմակերպությանը։
Տրապանիում եւ նրա շրջակայքում, որոնք համարվում են Մեսինա տոհմի հայրենիքը, կանոնավոր կերպով տեղի են ունենում մաֆիայի անդամներին պատկանող ունեցվածքի բռնագրավումներ։
