Սիրելինե՛ր, մի նոր պատվիրան չեմ գրում ձեզ, այլ այն հին պատվիրանը, որ ունեցաք հենց սկզբից։ Այդ հին պատվիրանը այն պատգամն է, որ լսել եք արդեն։ Սակայն դարձյալ իբրև նոր պատվիրան եմ գրում ձեզ հետևյալը, որի ճշմարիտ լինելը տեսաք Քրիստոսի և ձեր կյանքի մեջ, թե ահա խավարն անցնում է, և արդեն իսկ երևում է ճշմարիտ լույսը։
Ով ասում է, թե ինքը լույսի մեջ է և ատում է իր եղբորը, նա խավարի մեջ է տակավին։ Մինչդեռ իր եղբորը սիրողը լույսի մեջ է մնում և գայթակղության պատճառ չի դառնում։ Իր եղբորն ատողը, ընդհակառակը, խավարի մեջ է, խավարի մեջ է քայլում և չգիտի, թե ո՛ւր է գնում, որովհետև խավարը կուրացրել է նրա աչքերը…
Մի՛ սիրեք աշխարհը, ոչ էլ աշխարհին հատուկ որևէ բան։ Ով սիրում է աշխարհը, Հայր Աստծու հանդեպ սեր չունի իր մեջ, որովհետև աշխարհին հատուկ բաներ են մարմնի ցանկությունը, աչքի տեսածն ունենալու ցանկությունը և երկրային հարստությամբ հպարտանալը, որոնք Հորից չեն գալիս, այլ այս աշխարհից։ Իմացե՛ք սակայն, որ այս աշխարհն էլ կանցնի, աշխարհային ցանկություններն էլ, բայց ով կատարում է Աստծու կամքը, մնում է հավիտյան։
