«Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» երկրորդ գլոբալ ֆորումի ընթացքում թուրք գիտանական և մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպան Սայիթ Չեթինօղլուն խիստ քննադատության ենթարկեց Թուրքիայի ղեկավարությանը Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում ժխտողական դիրքորոշման համար: Չեթինօղլուն նշեց, որ 20-րդ դարի սկզբին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայերի կոտորածը նաև Թուրքիայի ամոթն է, որից հարկավոր է ազատվել: «1915 թվականին տասնյակ հազարավոր երեխաներ և հայ կանայք սպանվեցին, վաճառվեցին: Կարելի է ասել՝ նրանց հոգիները գողացան: Սա մի իրավիճակ է, որը մեզ ամաչեցնում է, և մենք պետք է փրկվենք այդ ամոթից»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ նշեց թուրք գիտնականը:
Նա անդրադարձավ Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանի հայ պատգամավոր Գարո Փալյանի քայլին, ով խորհրդարանի լիագումար նիստի ընթացքում հերթով ցույց է տվել Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհ դարձած հայ պատգամավորների լուսանկարները՝ որակելով դա շատ կարևոր, բայց կիսատ քայլ: «Թուրքիայում կա Սևան Նիշանյան անունով մի գրող, ով մի քանի տարի է, ինչ բանտում է: Ես անհանգստանում են իմ ընկերոջ կյանքի համար»,- ասաց նա:
Նա հավելեց, որ Թուրքիայի խորհրդարանի ներկայիս շենքը կառուցված է հային պատկանող տարածքի վրա, վարչապետի և էրդողանի նստավայրերի տարածքները ևս հայերին են պատկանել: «Այսօր կան մարդիկ, ովքեր իրենց գույքը, հարստությունը դիզել են հայերից խլած ունեցվածքով: Ես կարծում եմ՝ այժմ դրա դեմ խոսելը մարդկության պարտքն է»,- ասաց թուրք մտավորականը, ով ընդունում է, որ անարդարություն է տեղի ունեցել և 1915 թվականին հայ բնակչության 20-25 տոկոսը կոտորվել է:
Սայիթ Չեթինօղլուի խոսքով՝ իր երկրում իրեն նույնիսկ չեն թողնում կոնֆերանսների մասնակցել՝ որպես զեկուցող: Նրան նույնիսկ միջոցներ չեն տրամադրում կոնֆերանսներ կազմակերպելու համար:
