Որոշ երկրներ շարունակում են ժխտել Հայոց ցեղասպանության փաստը, իսկ որոշ երկրներ շատ լավ գիտեն, թե իրականում ինչ է տեղի ունեցել, սակայն խուսափում են Ցեղասպանության լիարժեք ճանաչումից՝ ելնելով ցինիկ քաղաքական նկատառումներից:

«Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» երկրորդ գլոբալ ֆորումի ընթացքում այս մասին ասաց միջազգային իրավունքի մասնագետ, Միդլսեքսի համալսարանի պրոֆեսոր Ուիլյամ Շաբասը: «Ցավալի է, օրինակ, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիան, որը հայերի կոտորածների տարիներին դատապարտել է այդ վայրագությունները, այսօր նույն ազնիվ դիրքորոշումը չունի Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում: Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում ազնիվ չէ նաև Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարանի դիրքորոշումը, որը վերջերս Փերինչեքի գործով երկիմաստ վճիռ կայացրեց՝ այդպիսով արտահայտելով իր երկիմ աստ ու ոչ լիարժեք դիրքորոշումը Հայոց ցեղասպանության նկատմամբ»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ նշեց Շաբասը:

Շաբասը հավելեց, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ժամանակին անպատիժ է մնացել, ինչը հետագայում ունեցել է իր բացասական հետևանքները: «Այդ հետևանքները ցեղասպանության շարունակություններն էին: Փախստականների խնդիրը ևս Հայոց ցեղասպանության հետևանք էր: Այդ տարիներին առաջին անգամ ստեղծվեց փախստականների գծով հանձնաժողով, որի նախագահ Ֆրիտյոֆ Նանսենը նկարագրում էր հայերի նկատմամբ վայրագությունները: Այս հարցերը, սակայն, կրկին օրակարգ վերադարձան միայն Երկրորդ աշխարհամարտի ավարտից հետո, երբ կրկին ցեղասպանություն էր տեղի ունեցել, և փախստականների խնդիր կար»,- ընդգծեց Շաբասը:

Եզրափակելով խոսքը՝ Ուիլյամ Շաբասը վստահություն հայտնեց, որ ի վերջո ճշմարտությունն ու արդարությունը հաղթանակ են տանելու:
