Օբաման հայերին ուղղված իր ուղերձում չի արտասանել «ցեղասպանություն» բառը

ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման ապրիլի 24-ի առիթով իր ամենամյա ուղերձում չի արտասանել «ցեղասպանություն» բառը. սա վերջին ուղերձն էր ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնելու ընթացքում:
«Այսօր մենք հիշատակում ենք 20-րդ դարի առաջին զանգվածային ջարդի` հայկական Մեծ Եղեռնի տարելիցը, որի ընթացքում մեկ ու կես միլիոն հայ տեղահանվել է, սպանվել եւ ուղարկվել մեռնելու Օսմանյան կայսրության վերջին օրերին», - հայտնել է Օբաման:
ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը հարգել է բոլոր նրանց հիշատակը, ովքեր տուժել էին «այդ մութ օրերին» եւ կոչ է արել դաս քաղել այդ ողբերգությունից, որպեսզի նման բան ապագայում երբեք չկրկնվի:
Օբաման նաեւ հիշել է բոլոր նրանց, ովքեր օգնության են հասել հայերին այդ բարդ ժամանակներում: Նրանց թվում էր ԱՄՆ-ի դեսպան Հենրի Մորգենթաուն, որը անհանգստություն է հայտնել ինչպես ԱՄՆ-ի կառավարությանը, այնպես էլ Օսմանյան կայսրության առաջնորդներին` փորձելով կանգնեցնել բռնությունը: «Մորգենթաուի նման ձայներն առաջվա պես նշանակություն ունեն գազանությունները կանխելու համար»,-հայտնել է ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը` հավելելով, որ Մորգենթաուի ժառանգությունը ձեւավորել է մարդու իրավունքների ոլորտում այնպիսի ակտիվիստների աշխարհայացքը, ինչպիսին Ռաֆայել Լեմկինն էր:
Նրա խոսքով, ապրիլի 24-ը հրաշալի առիթ է ընդունելու հայ ժողովրդի սքանչելի կայունությունը եւ հսկայական ներդրումը միջազգային հանրության եւ մասնավորապես` ամերիկյան հանրության կյանքում: Նա հիշեցրել է հազարավոր հայ փախստականների մասին, որոնք մի քանի տասնամյակ առաջ նոր կյանք սկսեցին Միացյալ Նահանգներում` ձեւավորելով մի ընկերակցություն, որը ծայրաստիճան ուժեղացրեց այդ ժողովրդի կենսունակությունը: Հայաստանի հարավային հատվածում տարածաշրջանային անկայունության ընթացքում մենք հայ ժողովրդին շնորհակալ ենք նաեւ սիրիացի փախստականներին ձեռք մեկնելու համար, որոնցից գրեթե 17 000-ին ընդունեցին իրենց երկրում»,- ասել է ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը:
«Երբ անցյալից ապագային ենք նայում, առաջվա նման ընդգծում ենք պատմական հիշողության կարեւորությունը որպես կանխարգելման միջոցի եւ կոչ ենք անում փաստերի լիակատար, անկեղծ եւ արդար ճանաչման, որոնք կծառայեին բոլոր շահագրգիռ կողմերի շահերին: Ես հետեւողականորեն ձեւակերպել եմ իմ կարծիքն այն մասին, թե ինչ է տեղի ունեցել 1915-ին եւ իմ տեսակետը չի փոխվել: Ես նաեւ տեսել եմ, որ ժողովուրդներն ու ազգերն ավելի ամուր են դառնում եւ հիմք են դնում ավելի արդար եւ հանդուրժող ապագայի համար` ճանաչելով անցյալի ցավալի պահերը: Մենք առաջվա նման ողջունում ենք այն մարդկանց կարծիքները, որոնք ձգտել են լույս սփռել անցյալի մութ էջերին` սկսած թուրք եւ հայ պատմաբաններից, մինչեւ Ֆրանցիսկոս պապ:
Այսօր մենք կանգնած ենք հայ ժողովրդի հետ ամբողջ աշխարհով մեկ, վերհիշում ենք Մեծ Եղեռնի սարսափները եւ հաստատում ենք մեր անփոփոխ հավատարմությունը ժողովրդավարական, խաղաղ եւ ծաղկուն Հայաստանին»,- ասել է ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը:
