Միջազգային հանրության համար Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի տարածքում բախումներն անսպասելի էին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին «Ամերիկայի ձայն»-ին ասել էգերմանական Մարշալի հիմնադրամի վերլուծաբան Ջոշուա Ուոքերը: «Աշխարհն այնքան էր կենտրոնացել Սիրիայի ու Մերձավոր Արևելքի վրա, որ երբ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի` նախկինում սառեցված հակամարտությունը սրվեց, միջազգային ասպարեզում ոչ ոք չգիտեր դրան ինչպես արձագանքել»,-ասել է վերլուծաբանը: Նրա կարծիքով` Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի խնդիրն այնքան բարդ է, որ միջազգային հանրությունը չի ցանկանում ներգրավվել դրա կարգավորման գործում, և եթե Սիրիայի դեպքում բոլորը ցանկանում են ներգրավվել և օգնել փախստականներին, ապա ղարաբաղյան հարցը սառը պատերազմից մնացած խնդիր է:

Փորձագետը նշել է, որ թեև ղարաբաղյան խնդիրը ռազմական լուծում չունի, հակամարտության գոտում գտնվող մարդկանց մոտ կարող է պատրանք ստեղծվել, որ այն կարող է լուծվել ռազմական ճանապարհով, սակայն պետք է ամեն ջանք գործադրել պատերազմից խուսափելու համար, որպեսզի նոր կորուստների չհանգեցնի:

Վաշինգտոնում Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ներկայացուցիչ Ռոբերտ Ավետիսյանիխոսքով, Արցախի ժողովուրդը պատերազմ չի ուզում, սակայն չկա որևէ ազդակ, որ ադրբեջանական կողմը նույնպես կիսում է այդ մոտեցումը: «Մենք հույս ունենք, որ այս դեպքերից հետո, երբ Ադրբեջանի ղեկավարությունը հասկացավ, որ ի վիճակի չեն ռազմական ճանապարհով լուծել այս հարցը, նրանք ավելի բաց կլինեն և ավելի համեստորեն կընդունեն առաջարկները, որոնք ներկայացվում են թե հայկական կողմերի, թե միջազգային հանրության կողմից»,-ասել է Ավետիսյանը:
