Ժամանակակից աշխարհում անձնական հիգիենայի պահպանումը պարտադիր նախապայման է սոցիալական կայուն դիրք ունենալու համար: Սակայն նախկինում մարմնի մաքրության պահպանման հարցը, մեղմ ասած, երկրորդական է եղել:
