Շարունակվում է ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի աշխատանքային այցը Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգներ: Մարտի 31-ին ՀՀ Նախագահը այցելել է Սուրբ Ստեփանոս ազգային վարժարան: Տնօրեն Հուրի Բոյամյանի և այլ պատասխանատուների ուղեկցությամբ Սերժ Սարգսյանը շրջել է վարժարանում, հետաքրքրվել կրթական այս հաստատության ընթացիկ գործունեությամբ, առկա խնդիրներով ու ծրագրերով, շփվել վարժարանի սաների և ուսուցիչնեի հետ: Սուրբ Ստեփանոս եկեղեցու կողմից հիմնված շուրջ 30-ամյա պատմություն ունեցող այս կրթօջախ են հաճախում համայնքի ամենատարբեր տարիքի 170-ից ավելի երեխաներ:
Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, Հանրապետության Նախագահը նույն օրը այցելել է Էդվարդ Քենեդիի անվան ինստիտուտ, որտեղ նրան դիմավորել է ԱՄՆ սենատոր Թեդ Քենեդիի այրի Վիկտորիա Քենեդին և հրավիրել շրջայցի: Ավարտին Սերժ Սարգսյանը գրառում է կատարել ինստիտուտի հուշամատյանում: «Ինձ համար խորհրդանշական է գտնվել Էդվարդ Քենեդիի անունը կրող ինստիտուտում. մեծ ամերիկացու, ով իր գործունեությամբ լիարժե քորեն վաստակել է «Հայաստանի բարեկամ» լինելու կոչումը:
Այս ինստիտուտը, որի տեսլականը Սենատորն ուներ դեռ իր կենդանության օրոք, լավագույնս արտացոլում է նրա՝ ժողովրդին անշահախնդիր ծառայելու նվիրումը և հասարակության մեջ քաղաքական ինստիտուտների, մասնավորապես՝ Սենատի նկատմամբ վստահության ամրապնդման ձգտումը: Հենց նման հաստատություններում են աճում քաղաքացիական բարձր գիտակցություն ունեցող սերունդներ, այդ թվում՝ ապագա առաջնորդներ»,- գրել է Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը:
Մասաչուսեթս նահանգից ՀՀ Նախագահը մեկնել է Վաշինգտոն` մասնակցելու ԱՄՆ մայրաքաղաքում կայանալիք Միջուկային անվտանգության գագաթնաժողովին:
