Էրդողանը փրկեց, բայց այս անգամ գործի անցավ ԱՄՆ-ը: ԱՄՆ-ում ձերբակալվել է Թուրքիայի քաղաքացի, իրանցի գործարար Ռեզա Սառաֆը, որի շուրջ աղմուկը գնալով մեծանում է` խոստանալով նոր բացահայտումներ նաև Էրդողանի «կեղտոտ փողերի» մասին: Սառաֆը 2013 թ. դեկտեմբերին Թուրքիայում «Մեծ կաշառքի» և խարդախության աղմկահարույց գործով էր անցնում, սակայն, Էրդողանի գործուն միջամտությամբ ազատվեց պատասխանատվությունից: Իսկ նրա ազատության գինն Էրդողանի համար թերևս ամենաառաջնայինն է, քանի որ այսպես ասած «էրդողանամերձ փողերի», «սև շուկայի». «փողերի լվացման» կարկառուն ներկայացուցիչներից է և ցանկալի չէ խորքային գործարքների ու կապերի բացահայտումը, ինչն առնչվում է Էրդողանի: Նա համարվում է Էրդողանի մտերիմն ու ֆինանսական «մութ գործերի» կառավարիչը: Սառաֆի կազմակերպությունների ու կառույցների կողմից իրականացվել է խոշորամասշտաբ ոսկու և արտարժույթի շրջանառումներ, արատահանում նաև դեպի Իրան` այդ երկրի դեմ միջազգային պատժամիջոցների կիրառման ժամանակաշրջանում: ԱՄՆ-ում նրա դեմ հետաքննությունն ընթանում է հենց այս գործի շրջանակում: Նա փաստորեն թուրքական կառավարության գործիքն է եղել` Իրանի հետ ֆինանսական գործարքների ոլորտում: Սակայն այստեղ առավել կարևորն ու թուրքական կառավարող վերնախավին անհանգստացնողը Էրդողանի անձնական «ֆինանսաներին» վերաբերող գործերի նոր բացահայտումներն են: Այստեղ էլ բարդությունն այն է, որ հետաքննությունն իրականացվում է ԱՄՆ-ում և Էրդողանը լուրջ լծակներ չունի դրանք քողարկելու կամ «գործը փակելու» առումով, չնայած այդ մասով դրանք կարող են ամերիկա-թուրքական քաղաքական «բանակցությունների թեմա» դառնալ` այս անգամ էլ որպես լծակ ԱՄՆ-ի ձեռքում:
