Կուբա ժամանած Օբաման «պատմական հնարավորություն» է համարել իր այցը

ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման, որը մարտի 20-ին ժամանել է Կուբա, «պատմական հնարավորություն» է համարել իր այցը, տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով Սպիտակ տան մամուլի ծառայությանը:

«Սա պատմական այց է եւ պատմական հնարավորություն»,- հայտարարել է Օբաման Հավանայում ԱՄՆ-ի դեսպանատան աշխատակիցների հետ կայացած հանդիպմանը՝ նկատի ունենալով երկու երկրների հարաբերությունների նորմալացումը: Նախագահը նաեւ նշել է, որ Կուբա իր այցը «միայն առաջին քայլն է» այդ երկրի հետ նոր հարաբերություններում:

ԱՄՆ-ը եւ Կուբան 2014 թվականի դեկտեմբերին հայտարարել են հարաբերությունների նորմալացման մասին, իսկ անցյալ տարվա հուլիսին վերականգնել են դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունները, որոնք խզվել էին հիսուն տարի առաջ Կուբայում տեղի ունեցած հեղափոխությունից հետո:

Դեսպանատան աշխատակիցների հետ հաբդիպումն Օբամայի առաջին միջոցառումն է դարձել Հավանա ժամանելուց հետո: Դրանից հետո նա, չնայած անձրեւին, ոչ մեծ զբոսանք է կատարել քաղաքի կենտրոնական շրջանում:

Օբաման եւ նրան ուղեկցող անձինք այցելել են նաեւ Հավանայի Մայր տաճար, որտեղ նրանց դիմավորել է Կուբայի կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու կարդինալ Հայմե Օրտեգան:

Բարաք Օբաման Կուբա է ժամանել մարտի 20-ին: Ուղեւորությունն ամերիկյան պետության ղեկավարի առաջին այցն է դարձել վերջին 88 տարվա ընթացքում այն բանից հետո, երբ 1928 թվականին ԱՄՆ-ի հանրապետական նախագահ Կալվին Կուլիջը մասնակցեց Ամերիկյան պետությունների ամենամյա միջազգային խորհրդաժողովի աշխատանքին: Օբամային ուղեկցում են նրա կինը եւ երկու դուստրերը, հաղորդել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
