1415-ին Ազենկուրի մարտից առաջ ֆրանսիացիները, կանխատեսելով անգլիացիների պարտությունը, որոշեցին, որ կկտրեն բոլոր գերի ընկած անգլիացի զինվորների միջնամատը: Առանց միջնամատի, անհնար կլինի կրակել անգլիական երկար աղեղով, հետեւաբար, ապագայում նրանք ի վիճակի չեն լինի պատերազմել: Անգլիական այդ հայտնի աղեղը պատրաստվում էր անգլիական տեղական կենիից, եւ երկար աղեղով կրակելու գործողությունը հայտնի էր որպես «կենիի կսմթոց» (pluck yew).
Ի զարմանս ֆրանսիացիների՝ անգլիացիները հաղթեցին ճակատամարտում, եւ սկսեցին պարտված ֆրանսիացիներին ծաղրել` նրանց ողջունելով միջնամատով:
«Pluck yew» ֆրազն արտաբերելը բավականին բարդ է, այդ պատճառով բառասկզբի բաղաձայնները փոխվեցին ավելի պարզ «f»-ի, իսկ «yew» բառն աստիճանաբար փոխարինվեց «you»-ով։ Այսպիսով՝ այժմ հենց «fuck you» բառակապակցությունն է օգտագործվում միջնամատով ողջույնի համադրությամբ:
