Ռուսական RIA Novosti լրատվական գործակալության փոխանցմամբ՝ ԱՄՆ-ում իսպանախոս երեխաների հետ անցկացված փորձը ցույց է տվել, որ գետնանուշն ու գետնանուշի յուղը անսպասելիորեն նպաստում են մարդու նիհարելուն։ Այդ մասին նշված է Journal of Applied Research on Children հանդեսում հրապարակված հոդվածում։ Հյուսթոնի համալսարանի ներկայացուցիչ Քրեյգ Ջոնսթոնը հայտարարել է, որ ճարպակալումը առողջապահության ներկայիս գլխավոր խնդիրն է:
«Մենք ցանկանում ենք մտածել, թե ինչպես կարող ենք կանխել դրա տարածումը։ Սակայն եթե օբյեկտիվորեն նայենք այսօրվա իրավիճակին, ապա կարելի է ասել, որ մենք շատ բանի չենք հասել»,- ասել է նա։
Ջոնսթոնն ու նրա գործընկերները պարզել են, որ ճարպակալման դեմ պայքարի պոտենցիալ եղանակներից մեկը կարող է լինել գետնանուշի յուղը, որքան էլ դա կարող է պարադոքսալ հնչել։
Ջոնսթոնն ԱՄՆ-ում դեռահասների ճարպակալման գլխավոր պատճառ է համարում այն, որ նրանք գրեթե ոչինչ չեն ուտում դպրոցում՝ անգամ պարտադիր նախաճաշի ու ճաշի առկայության դեպքում, և տուն են վերադառնում քաղցած, ուր նրանք ծնողների բացակայությամբ սնվում են մեծ քանակի չիպսով և նմանատիպ այլ բաներով, ինչն էլ առաջացնում է ավելորդ քաշ։
